I heard several of Millen's half time "team talks" before he figured out to shut the dressing room window.... These consisted mainly of abuse and personal threats, quote "do that one more time and I'm coming for you" unquote in a Ray Winston stylee Followed by the same players, doing EXACTLY the same thing, all the way through the 2nd half. Shows how much respect they had for him which is why he had to go...
Excuses are never the realm of successful managers and results are the only statistics that count. We have had a constant stream of managers who all lived and died on their lame excuses and only time will tell whether Derek can be included in that category and I must say I hope not. The result on Saturday should be a rallying cry to the players and only a positive result tomorrow and next weekend will make me, and a lot of others, really believe that Derek is capable of turning our fortunes around for this season. Yes we have had serious injury issues but the strength of a team shows itself in the ability to slot in other players seamlessly when required, a situation that we are unable to master when required. Let's just hope that by the time next weekend is over we can all sit back and say that City are starting to come alive for the long term.
