....how's it going to work????

FC is out of contract in the Summer.

He'll be on at least £25k at Sunlan.

He won't be loaned in January as that would mean Sunlan would miss out on any fee. He obviously will leave because if he was to stay, a new contract would have been sorted already.

So, if was to come here it would have to be on a permanent deal. We would have to pay something for him (£1m???) and pay him wages comparable to what he is used to. What would that do to squad morale? Would the owners be prepared to take that kind of risk? 3 years x £25k = a lot of wonga!

Plus, I'm convinced some of the struggling Prem clubs will offer him a deal and he would certainly prefer to stay in the Prem.

All-in-all, I cannot see this happenning!


ps. Would rather have Wood, Jones, Jerome or Davies anyway!

Ideal scenario:

We buy Campbell and Wood. Campbell would be a better option than Simpson IMO and Wood is someone who is good in the air, which we so desperately need.

We sell Oli and McLean, therefore being fine financially, and squad morale shouldn't be harmed as we obviously need an aerial threat and someone to replace McLean. And obviously we get Oli off the books.
 
How is morale fine when the vast majority of the squad are on £10k or less and we bring in Campbell on £25k???

Oli and McShane are legacy things that the current owners can do nothing about so I can see the other players accepting that. But to bring in Campbell on that amount I can see causing problems.

Of course, but it shows intent and they'll all know that if he fires us to the Premier League, then they'll be on the same money the next Season.

I know, it destroyed Reading's morale last season when Roberts came in earning big money.

Campbell wouldn't need to be on £25k anyway. If he's out of contract in the summer he's only going to have a contract worth about £650k. A contract over 2 1/2 years worth £13k in the Championship and £25k in the Premiership is probably the same value as he'll get out of waiting for another PL club to offer him a deal for 2 years in the summer because they'll want him to cut his wages as well.
 
I don't think Campbell would accept £13k a week, nor do I think we'd have to go as high as £25k, it would be somewhere in between and probably wouldn't be high enough to really piss off the rest of the squad.

It would probably be cheaper to sign Wood or Davies, certainly Davies.

An exaggerated example, but his agent will be telling him what he can expect from a 2 year contract if he waits til the summer. If he gets an offer on lower wages that's worth more than that and the remainder of his contract he'll accept it.
 
Personally reckon that he would accept £15k per week in championship with good goal/assist bonus, and clause of rise to s£30k per week in premiership. Do this alongside other contract renewals and morale Will be fine.

doubt many clubs in premiership would offer £25k plus given his injuries.

So we would risk £15k and Premiership sides (who receive maybe 100x what we earn) would not risk £25k??? That doesn't add up. Also, look what DQPR have spunked on Andy Johnson despite his appalling injury record.
 
If he does come back, the first game at the KC, if Chav Corner start up with "Dub, Dub, Dee, Dub, Dub......Fraizer Campbell!", how will people feel?


For me it's going to take an awful lot of him proving he really wants to be our player, before I chant his name. After the way he and his father used us as a "last alternate" with a pack of lies about Under 21 tournaments and going on holidays, I for one will be dismayed.
 
20k? Are you sure? I didn't think brown and duffen were capable of paying someone so little, specially of his calibre. No, they were stupid enough to offer 6.5 million when he went to Sunderland for 3.5 million in that same window, I'm fairly confident we'd have offered him more, specially once the Mackems got involved, and I bet they would have matched it there or there abouts.

If a player was already in the Premier League, we offered daft wages, if he wasn't we offered £20k.

We paid £20k to pretty much everyone who was already on the books, or came to us from a non Premier League club.
