Corruption is everywhere. The moral of the story is don't get caught. It must however be a nightmare to try and run a world wide organisation and having to deal with different needs, cultures and politics. While the current regime may be corrupt what do you replace it with? While we may not like it Blatter has been elected democratically and for the moment he is here to stay
majority of the money is from sponsers like visa and coke, it would not be impossible to arrange a football tournament in Europe for 2018..imagine a tournament without the top 10 teams in the world! it would be the world "B" series world cup. Those sponsors not yet sponsoring FIFA would be falling over backward to put in their 10's of £millions
Democratically ! to buy the majority of third world nations loyalty is hardly democratic... especially when corruption is the underlying theme Welcome to BCFC forum...
I say democratically as he received the most votes. The facts are that in Football Europe is disproportionally rich and attracts the most funding. Blatter attracts the most votes because he has used his influence to "share" football throughout the world by awarding World Cups to places other than Europe and South America. If he has done that illegally then he deserves to be sacked. But lets not kid ourselves this dispute is about who has the power to run the World Cup which is the greatest money spinner in the World economy.
It doesn't. England previously voted for Blatter against a European anti corruption candidate. England helped to get him elected and there he is now into his fifth term. The reason England backed Blatter was they thought he would undermine Germany's 2006 World cup bid and favour England. Its is all about cash and self interest. Everybody does what think is best for them, just like the Worlds richest league the EPL does.
he has used his influence to "share" football throughout the world by awarding World Cups to places other than Europe and South America. If he has been doing this 'admirable' work, then the criminal activity is conning nations and their fans into believing they have a chance and spending millions on pointless bids, when the decisions have already been taken.
It would help if you put a link to what you were referring to! But the point you make is why I would suggest it has now got out of hand, everyone was at it to varying degrees, although your example hardly put us up in some of their leagues of corruption. Time to draw a line and start again, but its gonna take the threat of prison cells to shake this lot from their tree.
I understand the FA spent £21million in their bid for the World Cup. Do we honestly believe that some of this did not grease a few palms. There is no doubt that in such an enterprise as the World Cup money talks and as I said previously its about how it is done and not getting caught. Who knows who is behind the witch hunt but one can assume that the USA are not happy that Russia got the next World Cup. I don't know whether Blatter is personally innocent or guilty but I would ask that we all consider whether our £21 million would have been better invested in developing our game which we all know is dropping way behind the rest of the world when it comes to home grown talent.
As I understand it most of the suspect money transactions have taken place within the US banking system. The key figure is the US's disgraced former FIFA rep who has turned supergrass. He has returned substantial funds of ill gotten gains. The key targets are the powerbrokers in the Americas and involve matters going back over 20 years. The Swiss case is more about FIFA being the victim of corrupt activities re future world cups
And what a waste of money that was Prince William the self proclaimed Aston Villa fan (why...?) and the idiot PR Whore David Beckham Given the choice, Russia and Qatar probably had more plausible representatives and I would have voted against our bid
Struggling to hide your hate here mate. You genuinely think Russia and Qatar had more plausible representatives than a member of the worlds most famous family and one of the most famous sports stars of all time? This is Russia and Qatar ffs
More plausible than someone who in his career did things like getting deliberately booked so his Wife could go on a modelling assignment ? Yep - damn right
Maybe not, but it gives a clue as to exactly what sort of person we're talking about here and what morals they have.
