That's exactly what was agreed when we first started this board and it's worked fine for two and a half years now. If you look at other forums on the internet the moderation on many of them is ridiculous; dozens of sub-forums and people getting told off for putting their thread in the wrong one, blanket ban on swearing or disagreeing, etc. This forum is brilliant really when you look at others. As Stan says, the OT tag shows that a thread is off-topic and gives anyone the option to either read or not read it. This is all explained in the 'announcement' on the top of the main page entitled 'Forum Rules/Hints for new users'.
I don't have anything against you starting off topic threads, which I made clear in my post. What I am opposed to however is a moderation system which doesn't seem to have clear guidelines as to what is and what isn't allowed, or if this isn't the case, a moderation system which doesn't enforce the correct rules. I'm of the opinion that threads such as the 'Margaret Thatcher is dead' thread should be left untouched by the moderators, or should instead be closed straight away and the relevant users directed to the off topic discussion forum.
I think you and Stan may be misinterpreting what I said. I don't have a problem at all with people posting off topic threads in this forum. Personally, I'd rather off topic discussion was kept in the off topic forum, however I can tolerate people talking about things other than football in this forum. What I do have a problem with however is that the moderation system and rules seem a little inconsistent and hard to define. I think off topic discussion in this forum should either be opened up to everything, including religion and politics, or shouldn't be allowed at all. In essence, complete freedom or no freedom.
I can't understand why you'd think that. The basis for the current system is simply that we want to allow everything within reason, but political and religious debates are ones that will always go over the top and spoil it.
Personally, I don't see the logic in banning discussion on topics such as religion and politics whilst allowing some of the jokes in the 'how far can we lower the bar' thread.
As will child porn, rape, etc so how do you differentiate between these and politics/religion? Also posting a title " The most shocking jokes: How far can we lower the bar? " the second or third post was made by a mod which suggests that he was/should have been watching it. The title itself does not excuse some of the jokes on there and WHY WAS IT NOT IN OR MOVED TO GENERAL? CAN a MODERATOR please ANSWER this question as you lot have been dodging it so far.
We have no interest in the 'general' forum and the people on there probably don't want us dumping threads in there because some City fans don't like them. There's nothing general about it. It was offensive to some people, that's the only issue with it, but it had a warning so those people didn't have to look. Sadly, a lot of people saw the title and thought "Oh goody, a chance to be offended." and opened it up anyway despite not liking that sort of thing, only to then moan about the content of it as if they were surprised.
So it was a personal thing then, thank you for legalizing the the forum by your comment, you have just gone way down in my estimation by your actions.
I haven't got a clue what you're on about now. Why did you ask for an explanation if you were just going to ignore it?
Estimation personal then comment by down my actions your gone legalizing way in the thing so thank you for the just a forum you have it was.
As there's no mention of golas, vespas, a particular poster masturbating, or commas in place of apostrophes, I think you,re well wide of the mark with that assessment.

Personal thing then = " We have no interest in the 'general' forum and the people on there probably don't want us dumping threads in there because some City fans don't like them." Mick made a comment on there some time ago that he was trying to promote the site to advertisers and wanted certain stuff to be placed into adult type areas- guess you mods did not get that comment. It was offensive to some people = if it's offensive to some people that should be a guideline for decency. but it had a warning so those people didn't have to look = there was also a forum labeled " don't look or post or something like that earlier on and people did look " I looked as I do not mind a riskey joke but some of the jokes were tasteless to say the least. You posting on it made it o.k I think as it seemed to legalize it because after that the sick jokes started and nothing was done about it, which was my other point that I made. I hope that this is easier to understand for a few of your supporters who always pop up to defend you and certain others on here by trying to belittle or insult posters. Also this is supposed to be the football forum for Hull City is it not? There is a forum for general crap for all to see, let's keep this forum for football for which we all joined up for. It has been quite good up to a short while ago, now anything seems to go which causes nothing but arguments and threats of violence towards each other, grow a pair mods and rectify it while you still can.
I heard my 15 year old son clearly having some hanky panky with his girlfriend in his room last night. My wife said "you better have the talk with him" So I pulled him aside this morning ...high five'd him and asked "what were her tits like?"
Robo, I do not disagree with your general points, but I do disagree with your style of complaint. Have a go at the mods by all means, but don't trawl over the same ground as others.
