Steady start from Aussies but the ball is moving a bit so should be an interesting first hour or so....
 
92-2 at lunch....even 1st session.

Seems a poor decision by 3rd umpire.....with all the technology available showing no contact with bat, he upholds the onfield umpire decision.....only thing is that if there was no DRS he would still have been given out!!!!

Yes, the problem is that he was given out by the on-field umpire. If he'd been given not out and England had reviewed, the 3rd umpire would probably have upheld the not out decision as there was no conclusive proof otherwise.

Agreed, this is the crazy situation....are the 3rd umpires trying to protect their on field colleagues rather than make the correct decisions?
 
Could be, seems there was definite sound from Smith's bat, but nothing showing on hot-spot.

At the time on TMS they were saying that "snico" indicated a nick when the ball was about a yard past the bat!!! I suppose that makes up for the previous dubious decision....
