Not sure Carragher would agree with that. Last night on Sky Sports he said Klopp needs to buy players as soon as he can and he thinks he should start with a keeper and two good centre backs.
To partner Sakho............two to go out of Toure,Skrts and Lovren.............all 3 in time Klopp will see it his own way anyway, not Carra's version..........(could be the same I suppose)
Injuries are part of the game. We may have had it worse than normal but in any given game you can normally expect to be a couple of players short of full strength. What made this year worse is we only have two strikers that work well with our team and both are broken.
Certainly, although I can't remember the last time we had so many crucial injuries at the same time we've been incredibly unlucky in that respect this year. By the time Rodgers left I don't think many of us expected much from this season bar klopp giving us some defensive stability, unfortunately for us we don't have the quality at the back for that to be consistent this year, Skrtel is still a liability, Lovren is crocked, Gomez is crocked, sakho not fit, no decent back up for lb or rb positions so for me it's not a huge surprise we are where we are. If we can win a cup and get top 7 then for me it would be a reasonably successful season for us, it's a shame because without those key players missing we could've challenged for top 4 easily considering the way it's gone this year with the traditional big 4 dropping points like no tomorrow. Klopp will get it right, I think he's doing an excellent job already, he can't turn water into wine without at least some time to replace certain glasses of water. Which he will so let's not all get depressed we are pants, we were more pants before lol
Two is overkill imo. Sakho is a very good player, he just needs to be match sharp. We also have a very good young CB (Gomez) out injured for the season, why bring two in now when this season is already a write off anyway? We certainly need one but not two. Skrtel, Lovren and Toure aren't good enough and will all go in time. Shockingly, Lovren as been the best of that trio since klopp arrived!
We've had a few injuries this year but is it really an excessive amount compared to normal / other clubs? Migs - couple of weeks Flanno - first half of the season Gomez - full season Skrtel - six weeks Lovren - couple of weeks Sakho - few weeks Lucas - couple of weeks Hendo - few weeks Coutinho - couple of weeks Ings - full season Studge - **** knows The list is a mixture of a lot of short injuries and a few long term injuries. I don't think we've been missing a large portion (six or more) of the squad too many times this year. The biggest problem is injuries being in areas where we lack depth such as CB and CF. Compare that above list to the list of players that haven't had a injury this season (yet)... Bogdan Clyne Moreno Milner Can Firmino Origi Allen Ibe Enrique (our choice not to use him) Toure Plus Lallana and Benteke, not sure if they've had injuries or not? PS...think I've just convinced myself we've had a lot of injury issues
I think our injuries have been more harsh than usual...........Hendo was out for a few months rather than a few weeks,Benteke has been out short term also. Firmino missed a month or so etc.
I don't think we've had hat particularly many injuries; I think the problem is more that - with the exception of Hendo - the longer-term injuries have been concentrated on central defence (Gomez [can play there], Sakho, Lovren and now Skrtel) and up front (Studge and Ings), leaving us short in certain areas. Up-front would be less of a Problem if Benteke and Origi would be banging them in, but they're not.
