It would appear that some posters are completely missing the point of this thread, let me attempt to make it a little clearer. Should, I have NEVER said in this thread that we WILL, we be elevated to the PL at the end of this season do you think that SB would want to keep AB as an active member of the match day squad, and if so do you think that this may cause issues between the owners and the manager? My issue is NOT with AB at all, it is the potential that there is for problems higher up than him due to perceived nepotism! IF, NOT WHEN! Please give it some thought this time and don't simply accuse me of jumping the gun with regard to promotion, or, for that matter, slating Alex Bruce, of which I have done NEITHER! In hindsight maybe I should have entitled the thread as - Thinking ahead slightly - THE Alex Bruce CONUNDRUM - as it seems that a few have simply read the title then gone on to rant about something totally unrelated to my initial post!
I understood your post - it made perfect sense. SB will keep AB next year no matter what league we are in
Should, I have NEVER said in this thread that we WILL, we be elevated to the PL at the end of this season do you think that SB would want to keep AB as an active member of the match day squad, and if so do you think that this may cause issues between the owners and the manager? I'll get my answer from someone.................................eventually. When I do if you could just enlighten me on what, if any, you think the implications may be? Apologies to those of you that don't like forward thinkers..............................FFS!
I would hope that Steve Bruce will have spoken to his son prior to him signing in that hewould have to make hard decisions about players futures and that would be done without prejudice, and also you wouldhope the Allams respect any decision. The potential danger is that if he decides to keep him and things goes wrong he is on a hiding to nothing. Personally ihave faith in Steve Bruce to make the right decision
He is contracted for next season, and as such will be a member of the squad. How he is used will depend on which division we are in, recruitment, results and performance etc. All successful managers need a ruthless streak. I think SB has one.
I would like to think you're right Melbourne, I also see your potential danger and hope that it doesn't come to that!
There is no point to this thread. It's one of the most annoying threads I've read so far on this board. Give him and his dad a break. 1) He's a fairly modest guy who does a job for us - he seems thoroughly decent 2) People love to slag him off but important away wins were secured at Milwall and Burnley when he was played out of position 3) His dad's a genius 4) We aren't even promoted yet. And if we do get promoted he deserves his chance just like all the rest of them, and will have played his part in a fantastic achievement
He's been OK, nothing outstanding, but OK. Probably the epitome of a squad player or a utility player of old - Garry Swannesque if you like. He'll carve out a career in this league and below for a few years yet. Not good enough for the premier league should we get there. Then again you could say that about at least half of the current squad and two or 3 of the current starting eleven. If we are promoted, we'd have to bring in some more quality for sure which will be a challenge for all of the reasons we already know about ie bringing players on fair wages to a newly promoted club form an unfashoinable area of the country. So, IF we go up, then Bruce and the owners would have much to consider and much work to do. That's why they get the big bucks and why the Neil Warnock quote is well worth keeping in mind.
Your quite ridiculous response, in my opinion, cannot be due to the fact that you can't read so I can only assume that perhaps that you don't digest and understand information that you have read?
I think I understand what you are asking, but you could have made it a bit easier on the grey matter. Basically you wanna know if the owners will perceive any form of nepotism, WHEN we get to the PL. YES junior has been an integral part of our squad at this level. Is he good enough for the premier league? Only SB can answer that, he has more experience at the top flight than any of us armchair pundits. So, I, for one, will leave it in his capable hands.
The Sky coverage in that game was shocking, Bruce did his job though while he was on the pitch, but we were always struggling to create anything until the substitutions. I'd pick somebody with a bit more ability but he can be a good stand-in at the back
Obviously - that's why he's played 250 games at this level. He's done a good solid job for the team in whatever role he has been given.
