    Care home clinical waste.

I know I'm supposed to love him and wish him on you for years. I just think he's a vile, horrid little ****. He makes my skin crawl. I hope you sack him so I don't have to see him so often.

You were much harder to hate when Sir Bobby was at the club. Pardew, Kinnear and Ashley are like a dark cloud over your club. Could be worse for you though, look at my back yard. :(

Have you had some sort of breakdown?

Alan Pardew is not a great manager, we know this. Do you honestly think that replacing him would do any good now?

If the board are not willing to invest, have stated as much to the world and you have the prospect of Joe Kinnear as DOF, what Manager in their right mind would be interested in replacing him?

I can understand the frustration levels as the predicted struggle begins for Newcastle United, but a thread like this is simply daft.

It couldn't make things any worse. Pick any fan out of the crowd, somebody with a genuine love of the club (Pardew hasn't ever had any love of the club) and they'd probably do a better job than Pardew.

The board is a bit slow at the moment so it's not as if it's being clogged up with daft threads.

    Probably true.

I do hope you that don't find my latest thread too daft... <whistle>

EDIT: I notice you're not a Moderator again, may I ask why?

it's called telegraphing a WUM attempt fella.

I took it in good faith and then saw this. I'd refrain from a repeat please.

You are entitled to your opinion as am I but to answer your questions:

1- I am not having a nervous breakdown... merely shedding a light hearted light on a commonly held view on this board regarding Pardew (appreciate the concern by the way fella.. didn't realise you cared :emoticon-0152-heart)
2- In terms of who in their right mind would replace him.... Clarke, Holloway, Hoddle... to name 3 who I think would jump at the chance (even under the current regime).

And either one would be a massive improvement.

I think Clarke is the only one who would come without hesitation, for obvious reasons.

Hoddle could be a DOF but not the Manager for me. He lacks the required energy but his intelligence and charisma are not in question.

A mate of mine was talking about the whole head coach/manager role the other day and a point he made got me really thinking.
Is it (the manager/head coach role) about the day to day training, fitness regimes etc.....proficciency in which usually comes with age and experience or is it more about a figurehead type person who is able to motivate a team (which has been coached by others)?

He cited the example of Klinsmann walking stright into the Germany hotseat and having a great coaching team behind him. Apparently he talked tactics and gave team talks but spent little time on a traininig pitch. Germany did well under him because he was able to motivate the players and had an almost talismanic aura about him.
He feels that Pardew tries to be both and is perilously close to losing the dressing room as he seems to back the regime more than the team.
He went on to argue that, if the right structure was put in place for the Toon (he is a Liverpool fan) then we should just focus on appointing more of a young figurehead type with less experience (Clarke) and let the coaches 'do their thing'... rather than appoint a Hoddle Type who is more hands on.
In my lifetime the most successful manager has been Keegan who rarely took training.
I'm not too hung up on experience I think it's more about a credible figurehead to rally the troops.

I get what you're saying, but I don't think a Manager/Head Coach can get his tactics across properly unless he's out there on the training pitch.

Sir Bobby was famous for it.

Delegate drills etc, but the tactics should come directly from sauce [sic].

I think it will depend on the quality of the backroom.
I'm a massive advocate of having good, local specialist coaches in place to connect with the region (bootroom style). We are in a good place in that department right now I just hope that, when/if AP goes... Mike thinks long and hard about that next step.
My total utopia is for a bootroom style conveyor belt of local coaches stepping up to assistant manager and then manager.. .then a DOF role etc.... the two most successful teams of my generation (Man U and LFC) both had that strong backroom system in place (although with Man U.. Fergies brilliance meant he lost top coaches as no opportunities at the top arose)

Hoddle would laugh in their face, way too smart. Joker is bang on, there nobody of quality that they would go for. Do you mean Steve Clarke? I think he would have serious reservations but may just about be tempted. We would never go for him though because he'd cost in compensation. If you mean Lee Clark then yeah he'd go for it but again he would cost us money so not likely. You'd have to think it will be an out of work manager who is desperate. Poyet maybe but even then he represents a huge risk and probably too volatile for Mike after his experience with KK.

    Di Matteo maybe?
