    I remember the time you could go in to a shop/supermarket and walk around and select your purchases without getting smacked into by a plethora of "home shoppers" or completely blocked off in an aisle as three or four of them strategically place their trolleys so that nobody can get through whilst they stand around and have a chat.

    How about the little tins of money on the shelf ready for the weekly visits of the insurance man, the milkman, the pools man, the paraffin man, etc, etc.

    The milkman - I recall red, silver and gold foil caps on the bottles that the birds sometimes pecked off to get at the cream on top. We used to put out tokens depending on how many pints required each morning.

    Generally once a year the milkman had a nice linen milk theme dish towel for my Mum.
