I have been a Socialist all my life and I voted Labour at the last Election but this Government under Keir Starmer, who I have never liked. Are making as many, if not more mistakes than the Tory Government. The undeclared freebies that they criticised the Tory Party for. The fuel allowance etc. They are making wrong decisions. I don't recognise this as a Labour Party.
Ban foreign owners from buying the grounds of English Football Clubs. The Valley is sacred turf. Charlton fans and players carved it out of the very earth 105 years ago. They built it with their bare hands. It should belong to a Trust of supporters forever. Long live groups like the Chelsea Pitch Owners. Every English Football Club should enjoy the same protection. Charlton Athletic will probably lose the Valley again within a few years. That will be an absolute travesty when it happens, and it will not go unanswered.
Charlton will not lose the Valley within a few years. But I can't see anyone buying it for the foreseeable future.
Politics is absolutely fascinating, I've been following it closely since 1964, and It’s possible to have a friendly discussion between people of opposing views. Online it doesn't work that way. Whereas people tend to find common ground in conversation, online posts are less nuanced, and more strident, as has happened on ere and will probably happen again. For instance, There are a couple of conspiracy theorists in the 5 Bells who I like and get on well with, I can steer the conversation away from their theories, but online I'd probably block them.
We are tenants paying Duke of Kent. Still …according to Wally Life “we got Roland Out” so that’s ok then
Without a doubt. I don’t understand why CL still displays that We Got Roland Out banner …it’s almost as if the four owners we have had since have been better.
The circumstances are irrelevant in my view. We (CAFC) owned the Valley. Now we don't. That should be illegal. League Football in England should be protected from property developers and hedge funds. Football grounds should be far more important than their land value.
I agree 100% It was a fatal mistake allowing the club to be separated from its assets again. What did our subsequent owners all have in common, apart from being w ankers? Southall Nimer Farnell Sandgaard Methven & Co Answer - none of them had any interest or ability to buy back the Valley.
They can be lodged as Community Assets, which gives them (supposedly) additional protections. Duchatelet must be pushing 80 now, and he’s still fuming about @ElfsborgAddick obsession with Katrien’s rack.
I'd like to ban public courtroom platforms for terror 'suspects' who slaughter innocent kids then plead not guilty. Once convicted, they should be placed in a total sensory deprivation chamber for one year. (I've heard people subjected to that procedure go insane after about a fortnight). Then what's left of them should be thrown off one of the higher Dover cliffs.
