I think that the protest probably affected all the players. A two minute break in play can affect the momentum on the pitch, or give a manager time to get instructions onto the pitch. It's why teams that are under the cosh often carry out cynical fouls; to allow their teammates a breather and a chance to reorganise.
Surely its up to every individual? I was offered a ticket for Saturday but I turned it down as I am not attending a game until they leave. That's my stance as I don't agree with anything they have done in the past few years. Am I right? Who knows, but that is my view. Each person can have their own and do their own thing.
I can't say whether it did or didn't but I know players and they'll use that as an excuse. That's what players do. I also think it was well received by the fans but when the fat bloke chucked a few later it didn't work so well. If it continues it will lose support. imho
In the time since I last watched City (0-1 to Palace just before 3-1 against Liverpool ffs), I've been offered a free ticket half a dozen times and never taken it up. That's just my personal stance. Wouldn't go whilst the Allams are still there if I was paid the ticket price to go. That's just me. But like I've said before I applaud all anti Allam stances. If you choose to pay and go and protest then brillant. If you get a free ticket and go to support your team knowing you're not lining the Allams' pockets, that's brilliant too. As long as you're protesting in your own way, get on with it
