    Also why has millions of years of evolution determined that up until the age of about 40 it was completely unnecessary for me to have hair growing on my ears but after that, well...what world of difference it has made to my life since.

    This is actually one of evolutions greatest achievements and is designed to make sure you dont get deafened by your wife's nagging which also starts about the same age.
