Now that minimum wage is the equivalent of £23800 (for a 40 hr week ) , do we no longer need to tip serving staff to make up the poor remuneration their employers give them ?
Just seen Jordan Henderson played in front of 610 fans in the desert before the international break. What a ****ing ****.
That should definitely be the case, but we still will 'cos we'll still feel obliged . . . . until we get out of the habit Nobody tips supermarket staff, or staff in the vast majority of businesses for simply doing their jobs
In my opinion it's the same reason we'll eat lambs and cows but shudder at the thought of eating horses and dogs. It's rare that we'll spend two hours, having a drink and a laugh, with a checkout girl. (Unless you live with one!) During your meal you build up a relationship, meaningless but it feels real at the time. If you tried to give a shop lass money I think they'd be pressing the panic button
I’ve had some cracking horse steaks in Amsterdam, most come from here probably. Now Belgium used to buy our boar meat because we couldn’t get rid of it, hardly surprising it tastes like a tramps underpants.
Earlier this year me and the Mrs went to the Jolly Drovers for our Sunday dinner, both just wanted the carvery. Went in, was told a table would be available in about 10 minutes, and to have a seat in the bar. Went to the bar and bought x2 drinks, paid on card. Few minutes later waitress comes over and says a table is available. Sit down, order x2 carveries and she gives me x2 tickets and says make your way up when you're ready. Have our dinners, finish our drinks, then go to the bar to pay the bill, debit card in hand. 2x £11.95, bill comes to £23.90. The lass got the card machine and asked if I would like to add a tip? No thanks. Why would I? Got my own drinks & went for my own food. Aye, I'm a miserable bugger at times.
That’s not miserable it’s exactly the point. You did some of the work yourselves anyway. In hindsight , you could have said you’d go back and give the chef a cash tip in recognition of his excellent cooking. We aren’t expected to tip a shop worker for getting something off the shelves for us. p.s. Is the Jolly’s carvery still as good as used to be ?
Carvery wise, I think it's went downhill a bit tbh, I would now class it as just "okay"....it used to "good". Still always busy mind, which is good.
Have we just gone back in time New Forest pig death: Police seize car in Southampton A car was seized as part of the investigation into the pig's death A driver is being investigated after a pig was killed in a suspected hit-and-run. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-67497145.amp

Chose a good day to take the little un to the non league rather than vpn the lads. Foraged his own step to see over the barrier. How's that for resourcefulness!
