How about "Button is the only driver left in the championship hunt but Hamilton still has more chance of winning it"

    Or

"Button won the race in great style but Hamilton's would have won it easily if he hadn't have crashed" :)

"Button is driver of the day but Hamilton was better"

I made those up by the way but I can easily imagine him coming out with **** like that...

I have actually missed the excitement Legard used to bring to commentary even if he was a bit of a divy. DC I like but it seems both him and MB get bored halfway through the races.

not much annoys me apart from Coulthards pronunciation problems! At least Legard is away - he was awful and just kept interupting Martin!

OK I wrote the following when the topic was new but just as I was about to post it I lost internet. I am going to post it now before I read what have been said since, so apologies if someone already wrote something similar.

Compared to the Swedish coverage, I love almost every single bit of the British one. I think you guys got too used to the BBC coverage and don't really realize how good you have it. The Swedish one, we have an old man in a studio who once or twice drove in "formula unknown" sitting with headphones and repeating everything that Martin and David are saying in the British one. Despite that, he still gets it wrong half the time. We don't have a grid walk or even a paddock view except for a quick distant glimpse before the race. The Coverage starts 5 minutes before the race and ends 5-10 minutes after the finish. Sometimes we stay on long enough to see the prize ceremony but never the driver post race conference and never any driver interview. And all this for the fee of ~£30/month. And that do not include the free practice sessions. And from what I understand our coverage holds pretty much the same standards as in many other countries. It is like night and day, the BBC coverage is the best there have ever been and probably ever will be.

I only have one bad thing to say and that is Eddie Jordan. He is not terrible but I really can't stand his constant search for incriminating facts and his love to point fingers at people. It's the complete opposite of my self who rather give someone the benefit of doubt instead of judging and in constant search of the positive side. Though I have to admit, that it wouldn't have been the same without him, the current team would have lost a huge part of its dynamic. I pretty much like all the others.

Croftys voice sound exactly like one of them two hosts in Mythbusters and before I saw him I was quite convinced they were the same :p I find him ammusing and good and I like his useless stats. The rest of the 5live team is also good, and I like their commentary. I love martin, he is mostly very fair and trying to be unbiased and I think he have a pleasant voice to listen to. I can't think of someone better to replace the God of Comentary, Murray Walker. Coulthard will forever be king because of his "nipple comment" and some some other comments he have done, so I can live with his inability to learn how Vettel is pronounced. Jake is great in my book. Just compare him to the presenter of MotoGP, Matt Roberts. Anyone think he would do a better job? Ted Kravitz is totally awesome with his technical insight and small interesting information all the time. And finally Lee Mckenzie, the most wonderful voice(and dialect)! I could listen to it for hours and hours..

So to all you Brits, like it while it lasts!

Ok now after finishing I actually could think of two things except EJ, and that is Benson and Holt. I usually don't agree with what Benson writes, and Holt I just find annoying with her most often obvious and meaningless tweets/reports and for the love of god will she ever change that profile picture she uses?! Looks like she have been having a butterbath being all greasy. But yea, these two are very minor things. All in all,<-- hate that expression btw(thanks Vetter for overusing it) It can't be much better than the current coverage, though the forum was better last year with much more interviews and analysis in a separate area instead of just walkig around the paddock **** chatting.

    cheers!

    Great post Chrispa!

I think you're right that most people here perhaps do not fully appreciate the absolutely superb coverage provided by the BBC. It really is second to none. I travel to many countries during each year and I have never seen any coverage getting remotely close.

My criticisms at the start of this thread were real nit-picking and very trivial. I think I should have given more praise but it was an attempt to fall in with the author's title, "Things that
annoy you about the BBC coverage".

But your continental view is very valuable in this British forum!:smiley-finger007:

The pratts that keep texting every weekend saying absolute bollox saying "Vettel/Schumacher/Webber is overrated" and hope they crash. What the hell persuades the BBC to allow crap like that through every weekend?

Wish the messages were live so I could tell them to shut the **** up a few times...

It's not really a main feature of the coverage, but the thing that irks me the most about the BBC coverage are the web bloggers. Why are they so bad? You have Benson with his undying love of Hamilton, and Holt who couldn't write anything relevant if she was given 100 years, and nostradamus' prediction powers.

Of course you get the entire channel that show more than F1 but still pretty expensive yes. Especially if F1 is the only sport you want to follow. You also have the option to watch a 30 minute summary of the race a few hours later on free view. It has been up and down with the coverage in Sweden since Eurosport stopped airing it during the 90's but the last few years it has been ppv. But I don't own a TV at the moment anyway and the BBC coverage is still the best so I couldn't care less really :p I will most probably be spending all my money on beer next year following the sky coverage at the local sports bar three days a week :| Could make for some lesser meaningful comments by an intoxicated me during the races next season :p

Well Miggs: you put it far more strongly than I would but I agree that she brings nothing to the team or the BBC show and it has amazed me that she has been retained, almost as much as it did Legard; but most importantly, she's far easier to ignore.

Bloody oath Chrispa, had no idea you're from Sweden!!
We are lucky here Down Under. We get no Sarah Holt, Jake Humphrey, Lee Mckenzie or Eddie Irvine (so when you guys start talking about his comments, I have no idea what you're talking about. And from the sounds of it, I don't want to :D).
