I think that the mags this season may have the same problem that we had last season, fairly strong first choice 11, but take 2 or 3 out of that team through injuries/suspensions (or even more if they get as lucky as we did with injuries) and they start to look a bit weak. Not enough strength in depth, we've addressed that problem and so I'm more confident going into the new season. Maybe a mag visitor can give me their view as I don't know enough about their squad to be able to comment fully. (cue the sarcasm and obsessed comments, ironic really since we're rivals and it's natural to take an interest in our nearest and dearest's business.)
Give me a F Give me a U Give me a C Give me a K Give me a T Give me a H Give me a E Give me a M Give me a A Give me a G Give me a S Put them together and what do you get? A Fact.
Back on subject. EVERY club is operating under financial reality these days. Other than Man City and Chelski, who to be fair have bottomless pits when it comes to financing, the rest are having to come back down to earth a bit. Liverpool have splashed some spondulas about as well but they sold Torres for £50m which helped. The days of clubs like the craas, or us to be perfectly fair, spending silly amounts without balancing the books is well and truly over. The stupid wage demands are over too and another 3 or 4 years will see much different contracts for players outdside the top 4 or 5 IMO. I think that a fit starting 11 for the filth will be able to more than hold its own in the EPL. There will be 3 worse teams this season however, the craas problems come with strength in depth which they simply dont have. Carroll, Nolan, Barton and Enrique are 4 huge personalities and players who have gone, are going or will probably go very soon. They have recruited unproven players from France who simply have to perform well or they will struggle badly. If they do then all is well but as I have said time and time again, they have gambled massively this season on those players like Marveaux, Cabaye, Ba etc (I dont have a clue who the other ones are to be honest) to come good from day one. If it takes them 3 or 4 months to adapt and get used to the pace, physical and tactical part of the EPL, they are ****ed. I think we have gone for the much safer policy this time out and in Gardener, Larsson, Vaughan, Brown and O Shea we have proven top flight British Isles players. In Won and Wickham we have potential but neither of them will be first team starters. Cabaye, Marveaux etc will be first team starters and have to do it form nest Saturday at 3pm without fail. I'd be ****ting bricks if I were them too.
Sorry shola i just copied & pasted it from the little geordie i should have known to check the spelling before i did it.
This reduces Ashleys businesses ability to borrow though doesn't it? I'm by no means an expert on this kind of thing but I thought that a reduction in share price meant a reduction in the value of the assets.
Probably, but he ain't gonna wanna borrow money to plough into the club, he's already got a pocket full burning a hole, that pardew wants. He's still worth a forune, and his value could just as easily go up.
