Anyone old enough won't' forget those now famous words - no need to repeat them on here, but is it?

After their home deafeat by Palace yesterday, are Newcastle back in the frame? Anyway, just looked at their 5 remaining fixtures and they'll certainly have a huge impact whichever way it goes on who goes down if it isn't them.

Tough game for them at Leicester coming up, and they've still got to play drop contenders Southampton and Brighton as well as Prem title challengers Liverpool. Interesting last game away for them at Fulham as well - Mitrovic to score the winner against them and send them down?

Now let's see - who's daft enough (besides me) to have some dosh on someone else other than us to take the 3rd trap door spot?

Changing tack here guys - can't make my mind up who's going to go down instead of City - it could be anyone of 4 or 5 (he said hopefully)

Can't pick one and TBH don't really care who goes down, so going for the lesser option of City NOT being relegated.

In the words of George Michael "You gotta have faith", even if it costs you money.......<laugh> So that's 50 quid going on @ 8/1 <ok>

EDIT.............B365 wouldn't take the bet <grr> - limited it to £31.25 with the rest laid off.

Sod that, dropped the stake to 30 quid and they took it. Am I telling myself I've just saved myself 20 quid?........<laugh>

Maybe wont get offered those odds again after the weekend - hopefully. <whistle>

If Newcastle lose at Leicester on Friday night, perfectly possible and it's on the box if anyone wants to watch it, then they'll be in deep ****e if we get a result on the weekend and the others around pick up points as well. I thought they had too much under Benitez to be in trouble, but they've been crap since that comeback win against Everton - and that was Everton's fault.

Brighton should beat Bournemouth if they perform the way they lost against Burnley, and I'd back Southampton to take something from their home game against Wolves after their cup exit last night. Newcastle could be another unforseen lifeline as long as we get our own act together.

All to play for but we must get something at Burnley - hopefully all three points with Brighton up after that. <ok>

Thanky your for your reply BT - very gracious of you.

When I placed my 50 quid bet with B365 online, they would only accept a bet of £31.25 themselves and would "lay off" the remainder with other traders. In other words, hedge their risk.

This is usually done on much larger wagers when they feel the risk outways the reward, but that is very unusual for someone the size of B365.

Perhaps they are regretting offereing those odds on us staying up?.....<whistle>

    How does that work?
I thought they had to take the bet, but how they hedged it was up to them. Realise they might still be liable for some of what was hedged if they couldn't get a deal as good as theirs.
As is said, you never see a poor bookie.

Dunno the precise mechanics of the "lay off" but was very surprised that B365 came back with that message on my account.

That's the first time that's ever happened to me. <ok>

Dead right. As I have said before. When you walk up to the bookies box under the Ninian Stand, the box starts shaking.

The bookie can't stop laughing at how easy it is to take your money off you.

Unsure as to your reference to me as I very rarely bet. Last time I did was at Spurs v Southampton on Boxing Day 2017. I had a tenner on 3.1 to Spurs with Kane to score first. All looked good until the hour mark when Spurs scored a 4th and then a fifth with Southampton netting a 2nd at the end. Lost my money but one of the guys with us had actually bet on a 5.2 Spurs win with Kane first scorer. £900 thank you very much!!! Miserable sod didn't even buy a round. :emoticon-0133-wait:

Just looked to see what they were going to do with this "not relegated" offer.

Noticed they're closing the book on this one this Friday - you can see it in the top right hand corner of the screenshot I posted. <ok>
