Somma played 59 games before joining Leeds (scoring 3)

As a player who 'plays off the bench' (you keep telling us that) then i'd say that's about 2 full seasons worth (aswell as a long time training with professionals).

That's for us, I have no idea how his previous clubs utilised him. Seemingly not very well.

can any other leeds fan please come on here and end this by admitting this is ridiculous and somma is an average championship striker (always useful to have in a squad for depth)

    Paynter is ****e

Somma is very good technically and very few strikers will score more goals than him if he were given a full season, he's lazy but is one of the best finishers we have had in a very long time. I know nothing of Schlupp and much prefer to judge players on watching them than stats but he does seem a good prospect but I highly doubt he is as good as somma at the moment

Bottom line is as good as Leeds think Somma its is pointless as he is injured and hasnt proved himself. To say he is better then Beckford or Nugent is absurd. Waghorn had 1 very good season and is alot younger then Somma so he is better aswell then.

Ifs and maybes are no good. Somma needs to prove himself year in year out before you say he will get 20 goals a season

I'm sure Schlupp is a very good prospect and definitely has potential to be better than Somma, despite his ridiculous name. Fact is, Somma played as winger for the various tinpot clubs he was at before Leeds and had a new lease of life over the course of last season. Like I said above, the stats speak for themselves. He'll get a goal every two games, although you certainly won't see him grafting or winning headers in the meantime. So yes, he is an average striker, but he could definitely be among the top scorers in the division if we chose to rely on him. Thankfully, we have McCormack so we won't need to.

And Leeds fans never hold back from criticizing our own players, don't be stupid. I think almost everyone recognizes we have an average squad at best. Under the wrong management, our team could get relegated. Thankfully, Grayson performed far above what we rightfully should have got, and Warnock has got just about the right results (average stuff from an average team).

    1) Which name is ridiculous? Schlupp or Somma?
    2) Can you rely on McCormack to have another decent season despite him never following up good seasons at every club he's been at?

I guess one thing looks certain and that is Leicester, hull and Leeds look like we will all be in this division next season so the banter can at least continue! <badger>

Schlupp. Sounds like the noise people make when sucking the last bits of a soft drink out of a take-away cup. I think Somma is rather a charming name.

No, but we will expect it. With Cardiff spending the money they did on other strikers, he was hardly going to be a regular starter for them, even though many of their fans still wanted him when he left for Leeds.

It's not banter with Hull. It's obsessive sniping. Watford, Leicester and Southampton are probably the best fun, so glad to see we'll still have the first two. QPR might be alright as well if they come down.

    <laugh> I couldn't care less.

Edit: Just found out that Jeff's bagged himself a bird.
    Not bad, either

Is it wishful thinking to expect it? IMO it is.
