I have a feeling we will be seeing him on Boxing Day, that red card will definately be appealed and are sure to win that appeal.

Gomis time on the pitch is not helping, but I'm not convinced he has it for this level, if I were manager, then Emnes would be ahead in the pecking order, but there is no issue of him being a replacement for Bony, as they are a different type of Striker, though Emnes can hold the ball up to bring other forwards into play if he wants, but his strength is his ability to run at CB's, and we need to develop and get more out of that attribute of Emnes game, it enhances what we have in Bony...............<ok>

Reading monks comments it looks as if he is preparing gomis as the player to take over from bony and the striker he is looking for to be his understudy.

Similar comments were made about Bony , Gomis needs time whether he or the Club are prepared to give it is another thing .Emnes is a different player and is more direct ,its a really a case of the Team adapting to Gomis rather than the other way imo.

Yes i agree with this, The more he plays the better the understanding he will get from his team mates. He did not have a bad game yesterday overall.

Good comment. Fans were hesitant and unsure when we had to wait for our team to learn to play with Bony, especially after we'd become so good with Michu leading the line. But we learned to play with Bony and reinvented our game. It took until after Christmas for Bony to really get motoring, and that was after playing for the majority of the games due to Michu's injury. Gomis has not had a consistent chance in the team yet like Bony has last season, so the team haven't had a chance to learn his match day habits - the runs he likes to make, where he stands in the box for crosses, whether he likes the ball to feet, head, chest or knee... These are all important points that every member of the first team must know inside-out before we make the most of Gomis. You don't always learn these things in training. Match days bring different pressures and obstacles to training sessions, and players may behave differently on match day as a result. We've learnt Bony's play, but every good team needs two good strikers, so hopefully the team will learn how to get the most from Gomis during his games in January.

By the way, I also like Emnes. But, like Monk, I do see him as an attacking midfielder/winger. He can play striker, but it certainly won't be at the expense of a natural striker.

The player that has impressed me the most this season has been Ki. He has certainly controlled the midfield and is a great replacement for the legend who you can bet has a lot of input in training Ki. He has grown to be a very important player for us. I must also praise Taylor because i had my doubts about him at the beginning but he proved me and others wrong and all he needs now is another good LB in January to push him along and some good competition...

We don't play two strikers and it's unlikely that we'll see partnerships forming such like Keegan /Toshack. Shearer/Sutton etc who in the main were providers for each other therefore as you say the team needs to adapt to Gomis's strengths rather than rely on two main target men feeding off each other .I feel we'll be seeing more of Gomis starting the closer we get to the start of the African Nations Cup and hopefully we'll see why the Club put faith in getting him. (Van Persie, Thierry Henry didn't exactly hit the ground running when they first came to the PL )

We definitely don't play with two strikers, and I'd never want that! I said that every team needs two strikers, but in the sense that if Bony isn't on the pitch, then there has to be a good alternative off the bench at all times. The team adapting to Gomis is imperative for this.

I didn't mean to imply you did , the "problem" we may have is instead of two players getting used to each others runs / positioning etc we're expecting the team to do it and considering the lack of game time and only having training which can't replicate the opposition's defensive movements then this could take a while to get the understanding needed .

Agree it wasn't a red. But it makes you wonder how these turnips saw fit to allow the Fabianski red stand.

After rescinding Fernandez's red card, if Fab's had been similarly overturned, it would have confirmed Monk's suspicions that we do not get a fair deal from referees.

As such, no surprise that Fab had to sit out the Spurs match. <steam>

I think we should re-appeal in a show of disgust.
