The OPs a bit mean-spirited reallyl!. Theo has always struck me as a great example to other young footballers. He was always very modest and respectful of people. It's worth pointing out that when he joined Arsenal, he could have waited a few months to be out of contract, and then joined Arsenal for compensation only and got a bigger payday for himself.

Pipe dream of course, but I think he would really fit into the Southampton Way, and Nigel might find space to give him a run out;)

I think Theo wants to move because he feels that he needs to play in his best position (his opinion) and also he may never win anything at Arsenal. I think he wants the proper rate for a player of his talent, but I don't think money is his motivation. Sadly, it means he will only go to a top club (not us) or even abroad.

P.s. Arsenal bought us out when we were broke, so no payday for us. Let's hope he unsettles Chamberlain:biggrin:

If all the players who have left Arsenal in recent years, citing trophies rather than money, had stayed put, they would almost certainly have won as many, if not more, trophies as Gunners than they have elsewhere. Does Walcott really believe that a big club will sign him and write it into his contract that he will play as a central striker? Added to which, Wenger has always said that he too sees Walcott developing into a central striker for Arsenal (much as Wenger developed Henry from wide left to central striker). On top of all that, Wenger does NOT tell his players that they must stay out wide all game long; what he asks is that if his front men interchange and a wide player comes central, somebody else moves out to occupy the space. Henry was at his most dangerous when he drifted out wide from the centre and then drove in again. Was Pires told he had to stay wide left all game? Did Ljungberg hug the right touchline all the time? My question (and maybe Wenger's too) is whether Walcott actually has enough of a football brain to understand how to play the game, whether he starts wide right or centrally. <ok>

To those saying what if he joined us..We've looked best all season with Lambert upfront, Ramirez in a free role and Lallana and Puncheon on the flanks. Why on earth would Walcott come to us? He'd have to be played on the wing. Lambert is our main main it's not like we'd drop him and play Walcott..

I thought Theo was very respectful the other night, I wonder if he shall pay Arsenal the same, when he turns out against them next season. Hmm

I wonder if playing against us at SMS had a subliminal effect on Theo. Not having a huge desire to thrash us, despite wanting to win of course, meant he started flat and never recovered. It could just have been that we were brilliant of course:smile: I think Theo will sign for Arsenal...100K/wk for heavens sake.

Not only do I think he will leave Arsenal, I'd also be pleased if he does. We took an early settlement on that transfer & lost our sell on fee, if he stiffs them then we got a better than previously thought. See, bitter logic. :)
Go on Theo's dad, you know it makes sense.
