    I don't think it's as simple as that mate, the contract for each player will be inclusive of wages in Ashleys mind so if Cabaye cost £4.3m upfront and his wages are £50k pw over 4 years that totals £14.7m (£10.4m wages over 4 years plus £4.3m transfer fee). Ashley will see this as almost £15m of the Carroll money spent already.

    Yes but surely that past 3 windows we would have spent 14.7 anyway.

    Really? I don't think so, I think the rumors of Simpson signing a new contract could be true and we'll keep him as our first choice.

    I know right? Next year we won't have to always apply the "Perch Coefficient" when evaluating performances. And ya, I don't know who to contribute that change of play too, but the Wolves goal (I think Jarvis cut in on him and set up the goal?) epitomises that glaring tendency of his.

    Zog over Gervinho for me. Signing Gervinho would probs make a bigger statement but I think Zog would have more of an impact on the pitch. Him and HBA on the wings with Nolan just behind Gameiro sounds decent to me!

    N'Zogbia/Gervinho (New Signing) Right Ben Arfa/Nolan centre Gutierrez/Ben Arfa left

    With Caybaye and Tiote in the middle, though could drop one back into CM away from home. By the way I'm assuming Barton is going.

    On the subject of French midfielders, Sylvain Marveaux (who we were linked to a good while ago) has yet to sign for Liverpool. I thought they'd beaten us to him but apparantly not!

    Had people forgotten about the fact we declared interest in him in february?
