I've been out since I made that post. And I stand by my post. Anyone that thinks he has a high work-rate knows nothing at all about football In my opinion he scores goals and gets assists because of the players around him. He has so many chances to score with our midfield, full backs and Lambert providing him opportunities. Other people might think the reason he gets goals and assists is because of his movement and vision and that is a matter of opinion. But his work-rate is low compared to the rest of the team and no one can deny that truthfully
In the words of Eric Cantona, the team is a balance, you have the "water carriers" to suppy the more skilful players in the team, Corky and Deano are our water carriers.
I don't think it is fixed in terms of vote rigging but I am sure that those behind the scenes have their eye on who will make the biggest bucks, it's an entertainment show rather than a talent contest.
Did he pinch that from Lawrie McMenemy..? Lawrie used to say that a team was made up from Road Sweepers and Violinists. He said that at times, all he had were lead violinists in his team, until he got a few of the road sweepers in. Then they became a proper football team. Found a quote from LM: âIn the ideal team you have what I call the road sweepers, who are grinding out the work, the violinists who perform acts of beauty and then a first violinist, who must be recognized as such by the whole team. But it is no good having 11 first violinists.â
Yeah, the voting itself isn't rigged but people are encouraged to vote in certain ways and in the sing offs, they can decide who they want to go through based on, as you say, whoever would make the biggest bucks regardless of who sings better. Though I think Misha B is just a Tina Turner style singer, both Janet and Kitty were something different at least.
It's funny how some players just split opinion. I personally don't think Lallana has had a decent 90 minutes by his standards for a number of games now and the injury he picked up has clearly been effecting him. I don't think he tracks back anymore than Guly does and last night Rosenior had the better of him for the majority of the match. Yet he scored a goal and did some terrific skill to provide the cross for the 1st. We all love him and he is one of the 1st names on the team sheet, but our patients towards him compared to Guly is vast. Perhaps it's because he is from our academy, English and could easily have left us for a bigger club in the past. I don't know but Do Prado has been with us for nearly 18 months and deserves the faith and support Nigel gives him
No question. I'm sure Simon Cowell knew he would be making megabucks off Cher Lloyd the moment he set eyes on her. She didn't need to win and she knew it. The whole show is a stupid facade but it makes a ton of money from the millions of people who are stupid enough to vote. The judges could easily decide who is record deal material after the first auditions, but they make even more money by making the contestants jump through hoops for a couple of months for the entertainment of the public. And yeah Guly is good.
I heart Guilherme Du Prado. He is a legend. He does track back when he needs to. If he doesn't then who cares? He is a deep-lying striker who is there to create chances. If we wanted to play hoof ball like west ham, then sure drop him. He won't win any aerial challenges from a route one. But if we want to play fast flowing attacking football, where we get in between the lines of the opposition and create space for each other, then Guly is your man. And we have Rickie for the long balls. He is not world class. But he is definitely championship and premier league class. Also, you're forgetting that he potentially still isn't fully used to the english game. Drogba was terrible in the english game for the first couple of seasons.
I think if we do get to the promised land the people will soon discover what a gem Guly actually is. He is one of the few that WILL be able to make that step up to the prem. I agree with the above, Lallana is the heartbeat of the Saints side and has not been on fire since he was out however like Le Tiss when he came back (on form or not) his name on the sheet gives the other 10 that lift and the opposing 11 the doubt/fear. He is the current Le Tiss figure that can change the oppositions tactics just by being in the our team. As for the Guly haters above. Put his figures against Lamberts and then rate him. Take the penalties away from Lambert. Yes Lambert is a dead cert on penalties but who knows, maybe Guly would be too. He doesn't argue to take pens though, he knows he is part of a team and does what he is told to do. So take those penalties away which leaves Lambert and Lallana behind Guly in goals and assists (which are the key in winning games) so Who will drop Lallana and Lambert?
