I went to Grammar school in Purbrook and enjoyed many an illicit pint of Gales "High Speed Bitter" in the Woodman. The Golden Lion in Fareham was a nice drop too! The flavour of HSB changed due to no longer using the deep wells full of beautiful, crisp South Downs water, filtered through the chalk over hundreds of years.
I was a Lagavulin man until some kind stepdaughter gave me a bottle of Caol Ila for my birthday last year. Wonderful stuff. I love all the Islay single malts though, Laphroig, Talisker, etc.
