Every Friday night, randomly pick 3 footie fans in a pub and get them to present MOTD. Pay their expenses and buy them a couple of pints. It really could only improve the programme. I particularly favour them being from lower league clubs. A Pompey fan describing a last minute penalty awarded against Saints would be a sight to behold.
Thing is, you lot did it to yourselves. You took up your Sky and BT subscriptions years ago and now your captured. If nobody had taken up subscriptions, those companies would have died and watching sport would be still in the hands of terrestrial broadcasters. You can't have your cake...
Passed by your neck of the woods over the weekend. Ended up in Saundersfoot. Nice place. Almost Cornish, but without the mega tourist numbers.
You should have said, TSS! I think I've said before but I love Saundersfoot and really want to retire there, or Tenby...
Next time, eh. Probably going that way again for the New Year. I did think of you as we went past Swansea. Is that the correct place.?
No, I'm further west, between Llanelli and Carmarthen. If anyone comes down this way and likes real ale my friends from Bedfordshire recommend Double Dragon...
Ah, I had Gower's Gold [I think that's the name]. It's no draught Wadworth's Old Timer [mind you, nothing else is] but very nice indeed. In the Salvage Bar, Saundersfoot.
Yes, let's get back to cultural icons like "It's a Knockout", or its stylish European counterpart 'Jeux Sans Frontieres', not to mention 'Pets Win Prizes'. You certainly got full value from your licence fee watching men with unfeasibly large false heads sliding around on wet conveyor belts whilst Stuart Hall fell about laughing
i used to go round my nans most Saturdays and my uncle who lived with her at the time was a big Wrestling fan so it was always World of sport with Dickie Davies i remember more than Grandstand
I grew up in Andover and got used to seeing Dickie Davies knocking people off the pavement with his sideboards and moustache.
Used to work with a guy from Llanelli. Every time he went home for the weekend he came back with a black eye, so I guess the pubs down there were a bit rough? Mind you, Southampton could be a bit like that in the eighties too.
