In 1982 we got through the first group stage without dropping a point and then ended up in a second group stage of 3 teams, where we managed to be eliminated without either losing a game or even conceding a goal. We didn't win a game or score a goal either but it was still a pretty unsatisfactory way to exit the World Cup. We returned to Blighty unbeaten, yet errr, somehow beaten. Thought it was a poor do then. Think it's a poor do now.
