Despite the controversy surrounding Qatar, the world cup is coming wether you like it or not. This thread is to discuss all World Cup things!

Here are the groups to whet the appetite.

Sep Blatter has successfully laundered all the bungs he received from Qatar so now he can come out and say' The decision to award there World Cup to Qatar was a mistake"
There are no words to describe that level of hypocrisy

Does look dubious, that is for sure! I think with the time difference, I can catch some games in the morning here! :)

Quite ambivalent about this tournament... will watch some games no doubt...... but no passion atm
Fully agree. The only thing that pleases me about it is the break so that we can get some of the injured back for December. I will probably watch some of the games. I wonder if the Qatari authorities will arrest any of the team captains for wearing rainbow armbands. They consider that the rainbow symbol promotes homosexuality. That would be worth watching.
Now I am trying to decide at what point in a match the most dramatic arrest could take place.

Ambivalent at best.
Spot fixing on the arrest times?

As soon as Qatar go a goal down which in football terms should be every game they start

Yes sorry meant to say to be announced.
Mainly pretty predictable with some in form players being selected and of course those who have been injured !

Toney probably missed out due to his off field issues that have cropped up .
It would have been embarrassing if his alleged placing of a bet would have brought shame on the impeccable hosts of this World Cup. ;)

Read a couple of previews as I haven't paid attention.
Group wise some are saying USA will win the Group and England will come home early.
I don't agree with that but Iran don't conceed many goals whilst USA will be more adventurous, that match will be the key England match. Last up Wales, regardless of where they are in the group will want to prove something.
If we get out of the group we may scrape to the QF to lose to Argentina. On the way we may play Senegal in last 16 and Sarr will score for sure!
If not England then I predict a South American final between Argentina and Brazil.

Think even if we come top we might face France in the quarter finals .

So tough either way potentially and I don’t think our group will be easy as some think .

Agree on Sarr - seems like he is their 2nd most important attacking player behind Mane.

David Beckham gets into a taxi at Qatar airport, he sees the driver looking at him for about 5 minutes in the rear view mirror. Eventually the driver says “ok, give us a clue then?”

Beckham sigh's and replies “well I had a glittering career for Man United, married a Spice Girl and played over 100 times for England, is that enough?”.

Driver says “no you thick c*nt, where are you going!?”

To the dogs, I would say, given recent choices.

Money he will never ever need (apart from shoring up a fashion company his wife owns that in real life would have been shut down years ago) to show how much he thinks he is worth

I hope from now on people with more sense than money show him how much they think he is worth now
