The problem is for Maria by the time Serena retires Sharapova might be too old herself to dominate. It's a shame for me that there aren't more clever players to watch nowadays in womens tennis like Henin-Hardenne was and it's too much about power, I think you are probably right though Murguruza will win Wimbledon as she has a few more elements to her game and will improve
Agreed. Just need to ban grunting and groaning also. Joking aside, for a brief period the men's game seemed to be heading in the same direction, power over subtlety, but that trend fizzled as the men adapted much better than the ladies by incorporating both strength & technique variability in their overall game plans.
Pretty much, will be fascinating to see if Djokovic makes any changes tomorrow after seeing Federer annihilate Murray, you'd think he would have to. The most skilled player will win rather than the biggest beast (sorry Serena)
If it goes to five sets, Djokovic will edge it. Federer's backhand is so good and some of his backhand shots are unpredictable. They'll keep each other on their toes all game, that's for sure.
Hopefully will be as watchable and exciting as last year's edition. I'll be rooting for Federer, but......
Good final so far. It's a reverse of Fed's semi-final, he's playing very well but still falling slightly short.
Fed hasn't quite fathomed out how to combat Djok on his serve to engineer his own winner. You can almost see Federer's brain working on the problem.
I want Djokovic to win but I'm happy Federer won that set. For entertainment purposes alone, I want this to go to five sets.
5 sets is my wish too, with the opposite result. A record 8th Wimbledon win for Federer would cap a brilliant career - and open up for more longer term entertainment as someone else ( perhaps Djokovic who may be capable of it) strives to beat that record. I doubt I'd live long enough to see it broken mind.
Rain - a beer break. How long does it take to close that roof ? If closed I wonder which player it will favour ?
