Regarding Wilshere, for me personally, even before he got injured I never thought he was all that, there were many games where I failed to see what his use was, his attacking play wasn't special, nor was his defensive play. Wilshere is a very good player, and has a lot of potential no doubt, but he has been massively overrated by a lot of people at Arsenal, all this talk of well his injury has made him play not so good isn't really true, because the fact is prior his injury he wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire.
It would appear that Jack Wilshere is now the fall guy to some of our fans.Twelve months ago it was Ramsey,I wonder who it will be in twelve months time,Ox,Ozil ?
I'm not blaming him for anything, just saying he has been overrated, and he's never really been THAT special or spectacular for Arsenal, pre and after injury, that's just a fact. And having said that, Wilshere has been nowhere near as bad as Ramsey was last season.
To be honest I think you should stick with him. For a while a lot of Liverpool fans gave Henderson stick and scapegoated him. Look how he's turned out for us - very similar to Wilshere in a way. He's technically gifted for an Englishman. Runs and tries to carry the team sometimes but doesn't always succeed. They can have poor games but if you ask me I'd take Wilshere any day at Liverpool. The next generation will rely on Wilshere, Lallana, Henderson, and Barkley. They run, put in good shifts. I don't know why Wilshere has gone off the boil but he's got passion for the shirt and is more likely than not to get his form back up. That being said I haven't watched him for a while now specifically so my comments could be outdated.
People seem to forget that the season that **** broke Ramsey leg him and Cesc were probably are two best players so the Ramsey thing we all ready saw how good he can be we just hoped it would of come out sooner after injury!
Playing in the most physical and least technical league hasn't stop Oscar or Eden Hazard both younger both from different countries!
Two things. Firstly, among the list the OP compared him to were very different types of players. I see Jack more as a deep lying playmaker, rather than an all out attacking midfielder. Secondly, many of the comments on this thread are reminiscent of the overly-harsh criticism of Ramsey before he made his mark. I should know, I was one of the main offenders! Wilshere is a top talent and if he gets over his injury problems he will improve on his already impressive Arsenal career.
I think you've a good player in Wilshere. Whether or not he ends up 'world class', we'll see. Arguably doesn't score enough or defend well enough... when you consider true 'world class' as being Busquets, Silva etc. Maybe he needs to be played deeper, because from what I see his best attributes are his passing and bursts of pace. He does however have a terrible attitude, makes rash tackles, behaves terribly towards officials and will become a liability if he doesn't grow up. Tenacity is all and well so long as it's controlled.
I don't buy that he wasn't setting the world on fire. Think back to the Barca game in the CL. Wilshere was the best midfield player on the pitch when playing amongst Fabregas, Xavi, Iniesta etc... Since his injury he has had little knocks andn iggles and he has never returned to that kind of form. He has been an important player for us however and this season being played all over the place and having to fight for his spot in the team will help him improve. Think he has a lot of potential.
It was mentioned elsewhere, but if Ozil had scored from that great through ball from Wilshere that led to the pen, then I doubt this thread would even exist.
the reason we hype players is that we are a desperate and proud nation that has only won the world cup once, and we are miles behind other european nations ability and our chances of winning another are remote. because we are impatient we want our English players to be world class before they are even great/good. all players then become the great english hope and are built up by the media, and then cut down as soon as they have a bad game. always has been then same and it will never change
I personally think Jack is a great player but not one of the best yet. Another is the same position is Ramsey, who is not English but is British and is better than Wilshere to answer that question and we are lucky enough to have both. I genuinely think that in a few years they will form the backbone of our team and will lead us to success. Tactics change over the years and tend to move around the different formations of 4-4-2, 3-5-2 (remember wingbacks ), 4-5-1, etc. When things come back to 4-4-2 which I expect they will soon enough we could have a midfield of Ox - Wilshere - Ramsey - Walcott. I would love that.
He played good but Sunderland were dead I would of had I good game against them. I will always remember what Wenger said to be good player you need to be consistently good at what you do. Don't get me wrong I love the little fella and I want him to do good **** it I want him to be the best 1 cos he plays for us and 2 he's English but I just look around at all of the other little players hanging around his age most already have a position we don't know what the **** he's best position is he there because he is English is he here like Park I don't know what is he's identity in the team?
Well playing deep is certainly not his best position, at least depending on the game, he doesn't have the stature to play deep in the big games against bit strong teams, he's too lightweight and get's bullied off the ball, plus I also don't think he still has that technical level to be able to control a game as a deep lying player. Against your Sunderlands etc yeah he can sometimes put in a good shift playing deep, but we don't play Sunderland calibre teams every week. In many big-important games this season, Wilshere was very weak as our deep lying midfielder. That position is Ramsey's once he's back from injury, that's for sure. And that also is the point, Ramsey's been out for 2 months, Wilshere has had the opportunity to play in that position for 2 months, is anyone really thinking it's a tough choice to choose between Wilshere or Ramsey for that deep lying midfielder? Exactly. Wilshere hasn't given Wenger a headache or a hard decision to make, once Ramsey's back and fit, it won't be a hard decision at all to slot him back right in.
Again another **** game. One good game against Barcelona everyone saying he's world class one of my kids won't even born yet and she seem she been in my life a life time now if he don't step up he will be another good player who just cannot make it big ex like M Johnson(man City) J Pennant(Arsenal) T Cleverley I don't think he's good enough (Man U) M Randall(Ars) C Samba(Millwall) D Cadamarteri(Everton) S Parker(Charlton) before some of you say well he played for England, England ****! And he only plays for them because he plays for us. Ok squad player for this team and level that's about it! Before Ramsay broke his leg he was a far better player than Wilshere he's injuries wont even that bad it's not like he broke his leg or something where he had a mental block he just pants!
Definite overreaction by the OP. Jack's been having a poor time recently (still think he's not suited for the deep role) but even then he's had those flashes of quality that we all know. 1 year ago Ramsey was getting this treatment and look at his performances now. That being said a spell on the bench might do Jack some good.
