Club Size Formula. Club Size = Relative Fan Base + Performance + Income Where Relative Fan Base is percentage compared to the most supported team (0-100) Performance is 100 if won every game for last 10 years. 0 if not won a game for last 10 years. Income is percentage compared to the team with the highest income. (0-100) I'm far too lazy to figure out the scores... But I think that would be a subjective way to determine relative "bigness" of a club. With a bigness score between 0 and 300.
don't agree whole heartedly but i'm sure we and fix this mess y= f(x) there are many factors to be put into (fx) History: Something separates Preston from Hull FC. not much much in the league table but there is a huge difference in history. City size: Something separates Preston from Birmingham. not much in the table again but one of these two clubs is massive underperforming Global fan base: the new addition. This is one of these that rankles the "locals" Trophies won: Something separates chelsea from Preston. Preston might be 142 years old and a founder member of the football league AND have 2 leagues and 2 fa cups but chelsea now dwarf this. Stadium size: It counts somewhere in here in terms of just plain impressiveness. Chelsea v spurs here. spurs might be bankrupt as a result but they put the fascists to shame. Revenue: yes if you can declare yourself 500million from nowhere but it has to count. Desirability: This is the one that you can't really objectively assess. Real madrid is ultimate desirability apparently. Barca etc. Man utd up in the rainy north need to pay more wages to get people to come. PSG need to pay more money. Bayern every german wants to play there etc etc. Performance: you are probably right to have something in there. the fact is if you are a storied club you still are big so just being a 10 year of **** doesn't mark you right down, neither does a johhny come lately club get to call itself the biggest club in the land. If you rate Man utd v everton on these. history - call it roughly equal 9 v 8? Global fans: Utd 10/10 everton 1/10 for irish fnas and that one lad from china who came the wrong weekend. Trophies: Man utd 10/10 Everton 7/10 Stadium size: utd 10, everton 5 revenues: Utd 10, everton 4 (193mil is seriously under the level) Desirability: Utd 6, everton 2 Performance: utd 5, everton 0 Utd: 51/70 so still big Everton: 27/70 so not very big.
not as attractive as real madrid and barca but bigger than anyone else history - call it 9/10 (being conservative there) Global fans: 10/10 Trophies: 10/10 most successful english side as community shields don't count. Stadium size: 7/10- going to 8/10 revenues: 10/10 for real finances Desirability: 6. its windy and we don't pay as much. Performance: 8/10 top sides in england and europe reasonably consistently over 5 years will be 10/10 if we win lots this year a conservative 60/70
Fair enough, although revenue would include stadium size which is why I don't include it in my formula. Trophies won/history, I think it's hard to call Preston a big club, even if they have history. They're a small club now. Desirability is subjective and what we're trying to avoid. Ultimately, I was going for a simple formula that is easy to calculate without spending an hour researching each team and completely objective.... Granted not perfect and all inclusive, but I think is a good easy to determine rough estimate.
I think we give Everton to much respect as a big club because we have the rivalry. I reckon if you asked people from the rest of the country and they would but Everton maybe around the villa level. Well known but nothing special.
Their stadium is one of the worst I've been to. Feels like a league one stadium. They've got history and had a lot of money spent, but they're not that big of a club.
Like I said the other day, ask anyone under the age of 30/35 and Everton are a mid table prem club that have never really threatened to win anything. In my lifetime they’ve flirted with relegation a few times and once hit top 4 to then be embarrassed in the qualifiers. Rest of the time they’re just making up the numbers of the prem.
Everton needs nine points 29+9 = 38 Doubt they are going to get it. Burnle needs 4 points to be on 38 points 34+ 4=38 points Goal difference Burnley -15 Goal difference Everton - 21 Relegation pointing to Everton l
Everton must respond to the Watford result. My fear was that Burnley have the easy games up first and are now just ticking them off. Chelsea at home now is must win for everton.
They really ought to have been But anyway that's then and this is now innit. It really looks bad for everton at the minute It also doesn't look great for Leeds either.
