I've said for years that whilst money and wages etc is hugely significant, it isn't the only way of determining success. For the first few weeks of the season Levante (who's players are on peanuts) were outperforming Barca and Real (they even beat Real when the two teams faced). Napoli players are on peanuts, yet last season they outperformed Juventus and Roma whose players earn far more. Just because Arsenal had the 3rd highest wage bill it doesn't mean they had the 3rd highest transfer budget. In the last 10 years or so City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs have spent **** loads on players. In the case of Chelsea and City we're talking world class players here as well. For Wenger to keep Arsenal in the top 4 despite this and having done it with a relatively young squad is commendable and you'll see how hard life is without him next season when he goes. There is a saying "You don't know what you've got till its gone" and IMO that applies to Arsenal. Don't get me wrong Wenger lost the plot a long time ago IMO and I actually think he should have stepped down before Euro 2008 but Arsenal fans don't realise just how well he has done as a manager up until recently.
