If we have such massive potential and support why have no Leeds based millionaires pumped their money in the last twelve years. Only ones to step up to the plate a worthless Chelsea tax exile, penniless Arabs and Cellino. Time for the locals to step up if we're such a great investment
I agree on his ego and your diagnosis and trust me I don't want to spend my Saturday night arguing on the financial side, it's just in the current situation we have no choice but to discuss it- until that's sorted then nothing else will get sorted - in fact my main problem with him is the fact that in the last 2 years we've had to spend more time discussing Cellino than actual Leeds - I long for the time when the owner is largely anonymous and we're discussing the players and the manager and the team rather than the bloody owner
As I said they did step up earlier but were trumped by an egotistical idiotic Italian prepared to spend blindly before then investing nothing for the sake of giving a platform to a pathetic fragile Italian ego.
but never got to the stage of putting a penny in. I could do that. They were trumped by Cellino because he moved quicker with cash while they were talking on Twitter and elsewhere
At the end of the day lads, we all want the same thing for Leeds and it will take some sort of Chinese billionaire to finally achieve it. Interestingly a couple of years back, most didn't want to buy success but alas that's the only way we'll see it. Our biggest problem is that we are no longer a big club in the global market and that's where our big owner will need to come from. A delboy character from Leeds or elsewhere just won't have the necessary cash
That's where I probably disagree, I actually don't want an instant strike it lucky billionaire to buy us and then buy us success, I actually want local successful businessmen supporters with our best interest at hearts to take us over and with steady sensible investment improve and advance us to success using our support and legacy. I would hate for Leeds to become a subsidiary of the Red Bulld marketing division. I don't want to be a Man City but a Leicester. (and I know Leicester are owned by Thai billionaire's but they've done it the right way through investment, support and belief in the clubs infrastructure not just by buying players and managers)
Problem is I suspect our age profiles may be miles apart, correct me if wrong and I'm sure you will. I'm in my mid fifties and the idea of waiting for the slow gradual improvement is not quite as appealing as it would be if I was a lot younger. As I see it doc, there's two possible outcomes with Cellino. Stability in terms of wages and other club bills being paid coupled with mid table on the pitch. He could also sell up and we could revert back to the bates gfh fiasco if there's no credible buyer. Remember under those two previous clowns they couldn't pay wages and inaland revenue but resorted to selling every asset we had, players catering contracts etc
I'm 42 so suspect guess not that much difference. Was speaking to an old friend from university yesterday who's a Portsmouth fan who I have always enjoyed having bragging rights on but now he just turns round and says well at least we own our club and it's hard from our current situation to say he/they are not in a better position. The only outcomes I see from Cellino are more of the same behaviour which will result in either see him striking it lucky and finding a coach who will work for him and get us out of this league cheaply or his current luck in finding someone who will stabilise us and escape his behaviour running out and relegation followed by a distressed sale.
And despite how much we both drink I suspect the realistic steady approach to investment/ownership will mean our elderly livers can both enjoy a successful Leeds United rather than the last 15 years of very cheap gamble on instant success we've both had to endure
