We can't even sell Ndombele. He's an absolute write-off and he'll be here for another year.

The notable thing is that nearly all of them are overseas players,
with only two having sufficient PL data to make IMHO a very
    objective assessment of them beforehand.

If your data source easily allows for it, we could try to
do the top 10 list for every full season in the ENIC era,
and similarly dimension by overseas / P etc.

Doesn't change the fact he's done more than Richarlison (and Lo Celso) so far though.

Goes without saying, hence the fat lazy mess remark.

The fact there are two worse players at the club though than him is a damning indictment of how bad they've been. To be worse than Ndombele you really do have to be terrible...

It's worth pointing out that Paratici's initial role at Juventus was technical Director, with Beppe Marotta working as their Sporting Director/DoF

Based on this, with a pinch of wooly logic thrown in, this suggests that Munn is the one who sets out the strategy for the window while Lange does the groundwork

The suggestions I’ve seen are that Munn’s is basically an administrative and management role - he runs the football side of the club with some responsibilities that a traditional DoF doesn’t have. Part of that is obviously deciding at a very high level the strategy (data-driven, what the decent is for, etc) and making sure the right people are in place to execute it. While he’ll probably be involved in negotiations I suspect it’ll be more Lange involved in co-ordinating player identification, scouting, shortlisting etc.

There’s also plenty of suggestion that Paratici will continue in his ongoing consultancy role for the time being, which I’m fine with as it seems to be all above board and you can’t deny he has an eye for a player.

The interesting part of the official press release is this section

Lange will have responsibility for recruitment, analytics and talent identification across our senior and academy teams.

Obviously his most recent role at Villa had him coordinating their academies, so it does appear a top-to-bottom pipeline is being laid so that there is a path from academy to first team

Also, on a side note, the FC Copenhagen team from when he was Technical Director were a hell of a lot of fun to watch

Hopefully that is good for us. We have a lot of talent in the academy so maximising that will be important and allow us to focus our recruitment more on other needed areas.

Worth remembering that Munn oversees Men’s and Women’s football as well as academies so Lange is effectively his no.2 for the men’s teams.

Finally, a joined up structure, incorporating the entire playing side of the club, staffed by specialists. Let's hope that the appointees are given licence to implement the new direction and proper authority to go with it.

We've been run like a market stall for far too long.

Since the december startup test things have got bad,
so some pondering has been done ...

I now believe that any playing "system" used has to be
defined by the CLUB, and NOT incoming managers/coaches.
Which means it comes under the remit of the DoF.

The rationale for this actually comes from Spurs itself,
    and its great football lineage.

Spurs of yore are associated with the "push and run" system.
Used well by Arthur Rowe, and taken to its zenith by St Nicholson.
And the only times Spurs have won the league.

The "total football" system, pioneered by Ajax
(with the involvement of Vic Buckingham - who himself was a
Spurs player for effectively all his playing career) and produced
their great and entertaining teams of the 1970s.

And then the "tiki-taka" system at Barcelona.
A fundamental change in playing, instigated by
Johan Cruyff (who himself who was forged in the fires
    of "total football" ) .

So I now want the club itself to commit to a system,
and that is what managers will have to work inside.
Any incoming coach who claims to have a fundamentally
superior system to the incumbent one, will have to
back their claim "by the numbers" .

Rather sad that we were asking this question two years ago and nothing appears to have changed. If anything, it's gotten worse.

Have to be honest, and say I feel very little after last night. :(

However there is no doubt Levy was gifted a
massive "get out of jail for free" card. I suspect
this will be the only such time for him, so how he
uses it is now the key issue.
