Poch has certainly aimed up at DL to put up or he's out of there.
Whether or not we win in Madrid we are now entering a new phase where regeneration of the playing staff is a necessity.

Don’t think it’s that out of order from Poch, he’s only saying what many of us have been saying for a while - the ‘project’ is ahead of schedule since he joined, and now he needs a new set of objectives for the next five years - objectives and the tools to meet them.

I do still think his comments about leaving if we win the CL were weird though. I don’t think he actually would, but they were weird.

Don't you think it's bad form to mouth off to the media?

Yeah maybe. But I don’t think he’s exactly mouthing off, they’re not bad comments IMO. I’m sure there is a plan in places, so I think he’s making a point to the press about our overachievement so far relative to resource and compared to the schedule of aims for the project - be a CL regular by the time we’re going into the new stadium. We did this early and are in the final of the damn thing this season! - rather than a pointed message to Levy.

To expect him to continue to do this given how much others in the league are spending is madness. We can’t match them financially yet and may never fully be able to be there has to be a middle ground between not spending any money, and spending stupid money. It’s a middle ground we occupied very well for a few years, I think we need to get back to that and also be willing to spend a bit more on occasion for the right player.

I agree with the points you have raised. Spurs must do more to sign new players etc. But I cannot help think that Poch is going about it the wrong way. He ought to talk to Levy without using the media. He is effectively strong arming levy and using the media as a tool.

This is what ruined Redknapp, talking to the media about his wishes to be England's manager.

Levy has done a lot for Poch. Gave him a very good package, same for Kane. Yes, he needs to do more but by the same token, levy can argue that Spurs are succeeding by spending so little, whilst creating new infrastructure that is world class.

Yes, talk to levy about what he can do to get Spurs to compete for the league title etc. But don't use the media.

When it comes to football media, less is always more, we certainly agree on that! Poch usually gets this right, which is why I’d be surprised if he was mouthing off to Levy through the media.

As far as spending to sustain success goes, it’s absolutely necessary and I don’t know how Levy could credibly argue against that. The CL run has papered over a lot of cracks this season, they’ve been there for everyone to see. Poch has put us in a fantastic position to push on into a new era in a new stadium but if we don’t back the project now then we’re squandering all that hard work. Regardless of the result in the CL final, this summer coming up is the most important at Spurs for years.

Poch is just saying what we have been saying all along...

He, his coaching team and the players have given everything these past 5 years to put us where we are. We are massively overachieving and punching above our weight. But if Levy and Lewis think they can expect this season after season with little to no real investment in the squad, they are sorely mistaken.

Poch's stock has just risen by a few notches and who knows, in a few weeks it could be sky high. There's a line of elite European clubs wanting to snap him up.

So if this project is going to go into phase two, it's now over to the club to be open and honest with Poch and the fans about what they intend to do or not.

The ball's in their court.

Definitely been a crazy season.

Pros:
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINALISTS!
Moussa Sissoko.
Almost securing a CL place again for next season barring an 8-goal swing.
New contracts last summer for Dele, Harry and Sonny (plus a few others).
Son and Lucas stepping up in Kane's absence.
Llorente being utilised properly and delivering some match winning moments.
Leaving Wembley and going home, even if it was very late in the season.

Cons:
Performances in the Prem haven't been good enough. Scraped too many wins and lost too many games. Could probably only count on one hand the genuinely good performances.
Lack of strengthening put a huge strain on the squad, to the point where many have picked up injuries due to lack of rest.
Lack of strengthening also hindered us in the Prem. We've somehow done unbelievable in the CL but our Prem form and position could've been so much better had we strengthened.
Likely to lose two key players this summer which are borderline impossible to replace with like-for-likes.
Trippier and Aurier at RB have been a disaster.
Good players in Wanyama and Lamela becoming liabilities with injuries.

Going forward:
Significant investment. Whether we win the CL or finish runners-up, the summer objective remains the same and that is to strengthen. A RB and CM to come into the XI, possible replacements for Toby and Eriksen, along with upgrading the squad.

Bring in a winning leader. Either a player at the peak of their career or someone who's recently retired and looking at coaching. I think Raul has been doing his badges, he even had a day training and learning with Poch and the team this season, someone like that could be invaluable around the squad. There are bound to be just the tiniest of things he could pass on that could take players to a new level.

I think this would make all the difference. I like the idea of someone like Raul but someone on the pitch would be even better. Unfortunately, no name immediately comes to mind unless Sergio Ramos fancies calling it a day at Real.

I posted this on the Prem board...

I think Levy is onside with Poch - the two of them are very close.

I suspect that both Poch and Levy are trying to get Joe Lewis to agree to release more cash.

Poch clearly wants to stay at Spurs. At the same time, he's making it clear that he wants Spurs to be competitive. He's making it clear that he's not going to hang around to get sacked, if the club expect him to keep delivering success on a shoestring budget.

I think you will find that most Yids agree with him.

Make sure that there is a big lock on the Trophy Cabinet and refuse to give it back......On second thoughts even if we win it the mousers will probably nick it anyhow.
They’ll melt it down to make hubcaps or wheel trims as we call them. There is a shortage of their currency with the increasing use of alloy wheels.

Yeah I'm a huge fan of Ramos, has an elite mentality.

He's an utter ****house but an absolute born winner. Don't think there's a chance he's leaving Real Madrid though.

I think your point about the coaching staff is interesting, Poch likes a tight unit but a new voice can work wonders sometimes.
