I have a tenner on us to win 2-0. 8/1 were the odds. COYR!

I'm not even going to mention the chances of us beating an awful Millwall team next week.

I've got $25 on us to win at $6. Could not believe the odd's. Not over yet, but stats pointing to a much improved Charlton.

    1-1

FT 1-1. Great result, and we seem to have got into our stride here. The secret is to avoid playing teams in the bottom third of the table!

Yeah not too shabby at all, proper impressed the last two matches. Someone said 3 or 4 matches back we were improving.

I simply cannot wait until next Saturday, full coverage of the game against Millwall downunder ! And it comes up at about 9pm, perfect.

I hope everyone at the club forgets all about next Saturday. We have a hard match on Tuesday and we need to focus on that. Hard but winnable, bearing in mind how well our second string did against their first XI in the League Cup.

It was a good atmosphere today. What we lacked was attacking the second ball. Their goal, Hamer made a great first save, it was unfortunate that a Watford player was first...

Afterward Jacko and Church should have score making it 3-1 to us. Watford was comfortable making shots from 30 yards out.

Their no. #11, Forresterri, looks like he hadn't learnt, and waited to fall to the ground to try to win a penalty or a foul. Was glad he got booo'd off by our fans. If I were a Watford fan, I'd have booo'd him off, as he showed signs of a great player if he played properly...

Overall, an excellent point, which I predicted, which won me a bit from the bookies.

Onto Huddersfield and Milwall, which I think we'll get 4 points from.

Players for me that shined through from today's match: Hamer, Wood, Wilson, Kermogrant, Church, Stephens.

Dervite didn't do much... Got a stupid yellow card which should have been red, and wandered upfield, out of position... Suggestions: shod be dropped for Leon Cort if fit

You continuously quote people out of context and seemingly not reading what they have written. I'll leave it at that, very bemusing to see what comes from eddie each week :emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm

After losing homa and away to Millwall and Palace last season, I don't want a defeat next saturday, and after yesterdays thrashing, the Spanners will be up for a turn around . However, Eddie's right, we've got a trip to Udders first, and we need at least a point to continue our curve away from the bottom. Hopefully we can build on our last couple of games, and the team won't be too tired.

It has been suggested that he could be out for 4 weeks

    A decent performance.

Watford are clearly a more talented side than we are, and some might say we were a tad lucky to get a draw, but then again Watford's finishing was so bad they didn't deserve to win.

Hope Kermorgant's injury isn't too serious, as Pigott wasn't very effective - despite his height, he rarely won the ball in the air. I don't mean to put a downer on him (this was his league debut wasn't it?) but he needs to learn to make more use of his height by timing his jumps correctly.

The defence was pretty good, it is to Richard Wood's credit that he could slot in and cope so well. Wiggins was poor though, I would have liked to see Evina get a chance.

Stephens was deservedly booked early on after doing his usual 'dither and lose the ball' act (Note to Vol: he is more prone to this than Pritchard), but after that played reasonably well. Pritchard was running out of steam by the end (I would have put Cousins on earlier) but otherwise was a fly in the faces of the Watford midfield all afternoon. Jacko was a little subdued, and probably should have done better with that late chance, even if it was on his weaker foot.

More than happy with a point.

    @ Captain

in terms of doing the dirty stuff like closing down, Pritchard had a very good game yesterday. Even the boys most ardent cheerleaders must admit however that he was more careless in posession than ever. Some of his short passing was laughably poor. I looked at my watch after his first muff...it was in the 13th min. A ten yard pass to Wilson that he under hit. I would bring BP on for the last 10-20 mins in games where we need to protect a lead. We would have won that game yesterday if Curbs was manager.

Piggott came on against Leicester, Captain B.

We did get a draw at the Den last season, Ken.

    Sorry to be picky, chaps.

    Thanks, I wasn't sure.

Vol, I don't know what your point is about Curbs? I haven't said that Powell is a better manager than him.

The reason we ever have leads to protect is partly because of the work Pritchard puts in that ensures we compete. He's also involved in a number of the goals we score and chances we create.

We're an average Champ side at best and Pritchard is an important part of the side. Along with the formation change it's no coincidence we're better with him (and Jackson) in the team.

Don't have the stats but pretty confident his passing completion would be no worse than most others.

Cousins time will come and if it's Pritchard's place he takes then great because he'll need to put in some very good and consistent performances to do that.

As for Curbs - what point in his career as a manager? Powell is still less than 3 years into the job. Powell will continue to learn and improve as he has done. Don't think anyone rates Powell higher than Curbs at the moment, but they can see he's got the potential to get to that level as a manager.

Sorry if I gave offence, Oz. My post was in no way intended as a dig at you. I enjoy your sensible and good-natured posts. I totally understand and appreciate (more than most here) your ex-pat anticipation of the rare treat of full coverage of a Charlton game. It was just that your post reminded me of the point I wished to make.

When I lived in the Lewisham area my wife and I attended all Charlton games but many Millwall and Palace games too with friends and in-laws. For most of those years all three clubs were neck and neck in the old Div Two. Of course we dished out or suffered lots of banter and triumphalism depending on how results went, but it never got unpleasant and I never formed any impression other than that the other clubs' fans were South Londoners like us who often had a good knowledge of the game and loved their clubs and a friendly pint before and/or after. In particular, in those days my very petite wife and I would cram into the packed standing areas at both rival clubs wearing our Charlton scarves and surrounded by rival fans and never experienced anything worse than amiable banter.

I despise any greater focus on these games to the exclusion of others. There are just three points at stake, and it often comes down to one each anyway. Any stronger or more negative emotions are best left to disturbed adolescents. I don't think "hating" Millwall or Palace makes one a better Addicks fan, just a moronic one.

This had nothing whatsoever to do with the valid comment you were making and I should probably have posted without quoting from you. Apologies.
