If an offer from a PL club comes in then there is no real need for a player in the last 12 months of a deal to put in a request, no manager will want an unsettled & unhappy player who wants to leave in the squad (assuming he wanted to go)
I would. Banking £3m for one of your best assets on a low wage who knows the Championship inside-out when you might get promoted and pocket £100m (or whatever it is) makes no sense at all. Chester isnt the kind of kid to sulk or disrupt the dressing room to get a move.
The deal has to be right for the club though. I don't think that Chester would openly state that he wanted to leave anyway. If you look at Norwich last year, they sold Fer to QPR for £8m and Snodgrass for £7m, they were hardly giving away bargains and I don't see why we should either
You can say what you like but if a player gets offered a big pay rise his head will be turned, yes a club can hold out for more but once a player decides then normally he will end up going anybody in any line of work usually does. Im sure the club would hold out for as much as possible but they know 12 months down the line he is available on a free. Anyway this is only paper talk but if it is true then other clubs may be alerted then that's when the price may rise
I'm sure that if we are relegated there will be many of our players agents out sniffing for a way back into the Premiership for them....the question is after this season who will actually want them
Not particularly, £3 million buys two decent Championship players, we already have McShane, Bruce, Dawson and Maguire at CB and we are severely lacking in other areas. Not many of our players will command such a fee, it would be stupid to not at least consider the offer.
Chester's not the type of player to do damage the dressing room. His girlfriend and family seem to really like the club and he's good mates with the other players. For £3m there would be no point in us selling when the potential value of going back up is something like £150m. Double it to £6m and I imagine we'd be more interested.
If i was working in Manchester and was having my money cut by half, then i heard there was a job going outside of Brum for the same or more money as my original contract... and a golden hello too!!! Err I'd **** off to Brum too.
Personally, I thought we'd get a bit more, but he's (predictably) not exactly set the league on fire this season. We need rid of his wages to strengthen with the Schneiderlin money.
I think he's a player, a few...actually quite a few on here don't rate him but he's better than Huddleston and livermore. The problem is they are undroppable in bruceys eyes and Ramirez has been injury prone. He hasn't made the bench latley but I haven't heard he's been injured again. If we stay up Id snap your hands off at that price
Now now just because you paid £5m to much for long don't try and swindle it back. If it's 5.25m to inter its 5.25m to us be fair
