    Newcastle said it about Harper and we didn't take him as a consequence, I think it's more likely that there's nothing to prevent him playing.

    So for those who felt Mannone's was a penalty, surely United should have had one when Wellbeck went over Schnezny or whatever his name is?

    Possibly not, but we were after Harper as first choice at a time when we didn't have a keeper. Sunderland were loaning us the keeper who'd been on their bench a for a while to go on our bench, appearing in the cups was less important to us by then.

    Yes. The keeper has taken him out after the ball has gone. If it was a centreback that took him out with a slide tackle in that position you'd expect a penalty and a booking for a late tackle (note, I'm saying it can't be a red regardless of who makes it, because the ball has gone already there's no denial of a clear goalscoring opportunity)
