Whilst I agree that everything Gulacsi did was exaggerated, I didn't really blame him for that goal, it looked like a great hit from Emmanuel-Thomas and I thought he did well to save it at all. As for that penalty shout, I admit I'm biased but I just thought he was looking for the penalty and it was too obvious. The replay confirmed it, he booted it off the pitch and waited to be touched so he could go down, he wasn't trying to do anything with the ball at all. Nothing short of cheating if you ask me. I can only speak for myself, but what annoyed me on that incident was that they both dived in for the ball, maybe it was a foul maybe it wasn't, but he booked Evans. Was it malicious or dangerous? No. It was a genuine attempt to get the ball from a player who couldn't be a fairer, more honest lad. Every foul is a booking nowadays (and everything involving a keeper is massively exaggerated) god knows why. For the record Chazz, I thought he was the 2nd best ref we've had this season, let the game flow pretty well and only gave 2 ridiculous cards which is pretty good for a Championship ref
Players like Mannone are a rare breed these days, he has head screwed on right and we should try and get him on a permanent
I don't really agree he had a poor game. Yes he flapped a bit but that's because he was v active in the area, imposing his presence. There's was one really bad clearance when he dawdled and allowed the Reading forward to close his clearance down. But at the end of the day he was part of a very good back 5. We defended really, really well, especially in the first half.
I was listening on RH, Mannone had a couple of shaky moments but the 4 defenders were the heroes today..but I don't get (as a defender myself) how they can be so good at making defensive headers but not in the opposition box, beats me!
Two different keepers IMO First half Mannone seemed hesitant, very dodgy on clearances! Charged down for one and then another miskicked so it went out by the corner flag. I think the nack four pushed up a bit in the second half which meant Mannone had more license to come forwrad for balls.
I put radio berkshire on as soon as i set off and their was a reading fan that said mannone is the worst keeper in the championship and he was terrible. I don't know how he could say that, he had a couple of dodgy kicks from bad bounces, but other then that he was fine for me and kept a clean sheet. Our Back 4 was solid yesterday and i did'nt get to see much of king as he onlly came on in the final minutes but looks a bit promising.
People get confused with the role of the ball in a foul: "he got the ball, he didn't have control of it etc, etc" - its not relevant. If he went through the man to touch the ball its still a foul. And as for not having control, If a player punches another 40 yards off the ball its still a foul.
what the hell was he doing with that kick in the 1st half, where he just waited and waited for the reading bloke to close him down? thats 3 games now with an error in each one, luckily they havent proven fatal and weve got away with it, chance for mr carson next week to stake a claim.
Yes, it is irrelevant where the ball is going but too many attackers simply run at goalkeepers and other defenders and expect a penalty.
true, and to be honest after the debate last week i waited to watch the football league show to watch it again to see if id misjudged it and still feel it was cast iron, he slid into the attackers path, he didnt bust a gut to get out of the way i admit, but he doesnt have too.
Mannones hardly had any competitive football this season and needs a run in the team, I wouldn't drop him for Carson anytime soon unless he gets much worse
Depends if he's eligible or not. They're talking about loaning Gordon out to get games so they might not want Carson cup tieing.
Wouldn't of thought they could dictate which matches we play him in apart from not playing against them
