The Virgil Van Dijk Stays at Southampton Thread

Sat here in the States at 7:40 and have to say reading the last 10 pages has made my day. Liverpool fans and Celtic fans are connected at the hip with past History. As a kid I followed all Celtic's great achievement's and the Lisbon Lions but that was in 1967 for goodness sake. Come back when you hit those dizzy height's again and we will congratulate you, but until then, just toddle off and keep dreaming.

Nope, cos apparently they're a useful thing to take to picnic, whereas VVD would sit around moaning that the weather was better somewhere else, there were too many ants, and not enough sandwiches, at which point he'd **** off and sit at someone else's picnic, who had a nicer hamper. And chairs.

 

It was indeed a very amusing pm yesterday. The gems from Liverpool fans/ex players on various forums and in the media were many and hilarious.

It changes little re VVD though, he'll still go I think. Of course a Liverpool without Coutinho (even if not sold his family's comments about Klippy will make it difficult to re-integrate him) is not quite as attractive now.

Oh but those comments about loyalty, signing an improved contract 6 months ago, unfair unsettling tactics, standing firm 'for the sake of football', letting him rot in the reserves etc, etc. Priceless.

I was about to post something similar - there is a chance that a move to Liverpool will make him look ridiculous. A bit like Lovren

If he was to go there it would be a world record fee for a defender in a team with no midfield cover, really open, a dodgy goalkeeper and a left back bereft of confidence after being shunned for a season (or another who has just been relegated)

There is a big risk he could have "big money flop" written all over him. (He might not care for treble the wages and a chance to play in Europe again)

 

I agree - I still expect them to win as well. It will be a bit like yesterday's match (perhaps not the same score)
