Hello , Firstly , a big thank you to all forum members for keeping us anonymous folk entertained and informed ..I make a note of looking in to this forum on a regular basis , but this is my first contribution . I'm very much a lapsed Watford fan , although always make a point of listening to the Horns games on 3 Counties radio . Almost ashamed to say that I visited the Vic for the first time in nearly 30 years yesterday . The place has certainly changed . The years pass too swiftly . I was lucky enough to be a 13 year old when Graham Taylor arrived and had a season ticket for the following 5 years or so . Yesterday's atmosphere was fantastic , reminiscent of those great games , like the league cup defeat of Notts Forest in 1980. The singing section in the Rookery were amazing yesterday ...I was especially impressed when they belted out even more noise on Blackpool's second goal ( that first half was dire ) . Glad to hear "Elton John's Taylor made Army" is still a feature . Harry Hornet was very amusing and put a lot of energy into his performance . Is there a song for the current manager and owners ? ..if not , perhaps it's time to put your thinking caps on .. I think they now deserve it . Come on you Horns !! Jim
Hey Jim, welcome! You certainly picked a good one to come back on! You can come back any time if you can repeat the trick, even better if you can eradicate the first half nonsense. Cheers
Thanks for the welcome . Booked tickets at last minute , half price of course . Was sitting 2 rows from front in lower Graham Taylor stand , close to the singing gang ..had a perfect view of all nine goals ... took a new lady friend along to her first league match ...At half time I said " I now remember why I stopped going to matches " Will try to get along to a few more games before the end of the season ( assuming there are tickets available ) ...the last 2 weeks half price discount has been great value for money for the occasional supporters .
Welcome to the board Jim - you do realise that you are now our lucky mascot and HAVE to attendall future home matches at least
I often used to think you should be able to get a refund on a bad game ..I would happily turn up weekly and pay for a half price ticket , for a guaranteed second half like yesterday . On a slightly negative point ..noticed toilet facilities have not improved in 30 years ... Are there any plans to tidy up or use the corners of the ground ? Is the Rookery much larger than in the past ? It appears to be . ....And finally ...is it now permitted to have standing in Premier league grounds ?.. I certainly prefer to stand at a football match ..( Probably has something to do with the fact that I'm too broad for the seats )
You're getting a little carried away there Jim .asking whats allowed at PREMIER grounds ! Talking of getting carried away, seems theres more caution on here than in the past, was expecting after yesterday a few remarks like 'thats the title sewn up now ' or 'what time will the coaches be leaving for Stamford Bridge for the league game next season'....if Chelsea stay up. Some may be suggesting the Rookery is renamed after the current coach after yesterday..or an even bigger achievement- managing to still be in the job after several weeks now despite the owners, BUT on the basis of yesterdays results you must conclude that Bradford City (of Division One) are better than Watford ! You people who know (and love) me know I'm not one to try and put a damper on things . Would think you must hold the record for longest gap between appearances at VR Jim......but I come close !
Welcome Jim, I saw Charlton but missed Yesterday, 12 goals for Watford in two games is kind of special.
Welcome to the site Jim. Unfortunately I only manage to get over for 2-3 games per season but here is a great place for keeping up with what's going on. We're a great bunch on here and although some on here have some weird political ideas we all manage to keep it very respectfull. As for standing at football you'd be better of over here.
oldnickhornet! Well there's a blast from the past... Hello, nick! Now, I've been having a mooch abartabit and noticed all your posts are when the transfer window is open. This Janaury, before that you posted in August and then before that in January again. You are clearly a football agent and I claim my five pounds.
Guilty as charged. I have many posts I wish to be taken into consideration and also would like to point out that Brother Cologne is similarly weird.
That is quite clearly a dig at my 'aliens commandeering the ark' theory. Please do not belittle my beliefs, BB.
I bet the club were glad they did the £13 promotion offer... Apart from the first 45 minutes yesterday it would have been well worth the money for any new supporters. Trouble is you know what we are like - Blackburn will come and nick the points.
