Reckless tackle. And a week before a world cup it was fairly natural to react like that if someone could have cost you your place through stupidity.
Clumsy yes, no intent though imo. Echoed pretty much by everyone bar Utd fans He touches the ball before momentum carries him through. Valencia's reaction is very vicious, should have just let the ref deal with it As for scared of breaking his leg again well maybe he shouldve called it a day after Rangers then. I snapped my leg in half on 3rd June last year and if im ever lucky enough to play again, I wont be grabbing ppl by the throat from a challenge so maybe he shouldve called it a day if he feels the need to grab young innocent lads by the throat
Which one? If Sterling were to do that in a meaningful game, i.e. the world cup, it's a red card. Simple. Regardless of Liverpool fans saying it isn't, it is. Therefore, this is why he can not be entrusted with a starting position. Yet. This despite him being world class and the best player at ten despite rarely playing there of course.
Who has won anything in that squad recently? Milner, Hart, Ox (injured).....erm.........that'll be it then P>S Thankyou for the glowing praise on our players, LFC will do our best to try and make sure we arent embarrassed, with Roy in charge though cant promise anything
We wouldnt want anyone starting who might do a foul now and again would we
Eh? Are you serious? Try, Hart, Smalling, Rooney, Jones, Welbeck, Lampard. NOT Oxlade-Chamberlain by the way, who hasn't won a tin pot in his career. Anyway, you're missing the point. The point is a piss take of the blind idiocy of the likes of Sisu who has elevated Sterling to "best player in the squad" status and the idea that Liverpool having just had a season of winning precisely **** all should mean their players are suddenly number one choice for England ahead of those who did the dirty work in getting us qualified for the tournament. The idea that Sterling should start ahead of Rooney is a complete and utter ****ing joke. End of. Two Liverpool players are worth a place in the side, Gerrard and Sturridge. The rest are squad players who, if you were to be in anyway shape or form realistic, should not be anywhere near a starting place for the first game of this tournament.
Is it really that difficult to grasp that a player who can fly in and make that challenge in a pre tournament meaningless friendly is very, very unlikely to be handed a starting place in the first game of the actual tournament. Really? Is it really that hard?
"Eh? Are you serious? Try, Hart, Smalling, Rooney, Jones, Welbeck, Lampard." Come on Chief..,recently as in last season. Unless you count the Charity Shield Arsenal won the FA, if we're honest its an underwhelming squad with not an excellent manager. But lets enjoy it and you never know, well you do but you know what I mean Sterling isnt the best in the squad, he's a bloody good option though if he's allowed to play to his strength Rooneys experience will be needed, but he doesnt always shine in tournaments, the same as a few others
I meant ever. Unless I'm mistaken as I didn't watch most of it, Oxlade Chamberlain didn't play in the FA cup final? And yes, Sterling has a role to play alright. I would imagine he'll frighten some sides to death if he's allowed to run at opponents as a fresh sub. He might well play his way into the starting line up. The suggestion he gets to start ahead of the highly experience bloke whose goals got us to the tournament in the first place is as I said in the first place, mental. He might yet get to start instead of Ox now he's injured anyway, although I guess Woy would go for Milner or Welbeck, but not as No. 10.
Ever? Sure I dont need to tell you we won it for the 5th time in 2005, so Gerrard should be on your list Not sure if Ox played in the final tbh Alll we can do is get behind the team, enjoy an amazing tournament thats only here every 4 years and pray we get some luck! We have to support the team regardless of club loyalties, how can we enjoy it otherwise! Just a shame we have Roy calling the shots, he's a nice grandad and all that but...
**** sake people are making out it was a malicous tackle, it's clear as daylight it was just slightly mistimed It was a yellow card at most - clumsy tackle, got the ball and unfortunately clipped the player on the way through. Valencia's reaction was pathetic and the only reason they both saw red. Funny how every other fan other than Utd fans think that the tackle wasn't too bad. The season he's had he deserves to be in the starting 11, how many times this season has he been booked for a similar incident? None as far as I can remember. It was a one off mistimed tackle. Before this tackle people were hoping he'd be starting - now because of one mistake he's getting shot down in flames. Of course he won't replace Rooney, but we're much better off playing Sterling than Welbeck.
Not a clumsy tackle or even mis-timed, it was a very rash tackle. He did not "clip" Valencia on the way through, he hit him so hard that his leg went above his head. Valencia reacted in a way i have never seen before from him but i think this may be because he knows it is probably his last world cup (and possibly shop window if he is to leave United). Unfortunate for both players but i don`t think any actual malice was meant by either.
Can't believe anyone is defending the tackle. I would be extremely pissed off if someone flew in like that during a FRIENDLY, the week before a world cup. Surprised nobody has mentioned Wilshere acting like superman during the whole thing, like an utter ****ing prick.
FFS Drogs the tackle wasn't that bad - just a bit rash and the timing was wrong, but if that was on a Saturday in th PL no-one would even talk about it. Friendly or not, players should be at least trying. If the friendly was just to get used to the heat they may have just gone for a 90min jog. Basically Raheem came on with 20 or 25 to go and wanted to show the gaffer he was up for it - ****ed a tackle up (so it back fired!) but I don't get all this 'it was just a friendly' stuff personally.
