I don't believe in the death penalty as if you get it wrong you can't correct it. I do think life should mean life for the extreme cases like this one and serial killers

That is true. The other big issue I have with it is that who decides which crimes are deserving of the death penalty and which ones aren't?

Yes i know what you are saying. I don't believe in the death penalty myself as it cannot be administered 100%. But some people deserve it, this guy (if he really is guilty, the norwegian guy who murdered loads of people, etc)

What he says is 100% true though. We laugh at Americans because some of them are supporting Donald Trump as a political candidate then the majority of British people actually vote out of Europe ****ing themselves over in the process and crippling our economy just because Boris & Farage said so.

That's not what he's saying though. What he's saying (I think) is that the media and people in Britain DO tend to look down at other cultures and countries. Whether it be Russia for their anti-gay/racist sentiments, America letting their civilians carry guns etc. but the truth of the matter is we are no better than these countries, look at the fact that hate crime has risen 42% from last year based on the Brexit vote, can we really claim to be a forward thinking country if a large portion of our country starts abusing ethnic minorities and people of other nationalities based on one referendum?

Yeah but I dont is what Im saying

He said "We read stuff like this from other country's and think it's just them, when we read it about our own we don't like to face the fact that it is us as well."

I dont think its just them and I know its us as well

Not having a go @Diego but I dont think like that, no big deal

Basically every country has it's share of scumbags. In some countries they have easier access to guns than others so cause different problems, but you don't need guns to abuse/bully kids. The UK has had a series of cases were it was known to the Police, social services, schools, etc that kids were being abused but the hand wringing liberal left that inhabits our councils and courtrooms always have a reason why the kids should be sent back to suffer more abuse, and sometimes death.

My mum worked for Liverpool Council in the eighties as a social worker for geriatrics, making sure they had a decent home and support when they left hospital. They got a new manageress of the unit, she had previously been a social worker in child protection and was roundly condemned by a judge after she sent a kid back to his family who was clearly being physically abused on a regular basis and was eventually beaten to death by his parents aged 3 or 4.

How did the council deal with it, they promoted her out of the way. She was a nightmare running the unit my mum was in so my mum took early retirement.

Not aimed at you or anybody else on here mate, I used a very generalised "we" as a way of depicting the British mentality.
How many times have you heard neighbours interviewed about crimes and they have said "I am shocked, this is a nice quiet area". The truth is things happen everywhere all the time.

Part of me wishes that were true, Bobby, but the evidence seems to be that this universe doesn't give **** about us. All we have is each other, and that's why the deliberate act of a conscious, salient being to inflict cruelty onto any living being is abhorrent. Worst of all on children or the infirm.

Didn't know where else to part this and didn't want to put something so down beat in the pub thread, nor did I want to create enough "miserable" thread...

Today's suicide murder is terrible. How ****ing selfish can one man be?

Either they split up and he couldn't face life without his family or he just couldn't cope with life anymore and didn't like the idea of not seeing his family grow old or them not knowing him him as they get old.

Whatever it was, to take two other life's, one of which was so young, is unforgiveable!

I always think blokes who take out their family and then themselves must be very narcissistic individuals who think they are the centre of the universe and nobody else matters. Maybe it will come out that they were splitting up, I believe their house was for sale, but that is no reason to do what he did.
