I’ve never liked players from Scotland priced at £8M since 2005. Can’t remember why but it’s an ingrained philosophy and belief.

<laugh>

Please excuse my name dropping ( again ). I used to be good mates and lived next door to Barry Cowell, son of Bobby Cowell the FA Cup winning fullback. He told me the story of when Joe Harvey ceased to become manager and worked as a scout for Gordon Lee. Old Joe Harvey had been tracking Alan Hansen and suggested to Gordon Lee that he should take a look at young Hansen. On the drive back from Scotland Joe said to Gordon Lee " what do you think ?"
Gordon Lee said " I've never signed a Scotsman and never will "
Apparently Joe gave his rather forthright opinion of Hansen and Gordon Lee and that was that.

Wonder how Joe would have managed today’s overpaid millionaire prima donnas. Actually, I guess I know the answer to that.

Probably done the original Joey Barton and stubbed an untipped " Woodbine " straight in the eye. Then made the offender dubbin the ball and played them centre forward on Saturday.
The outcome being a hattrick from Ron McGarry, two from Willie Penman and a right good p!ss up for all and sundry on the Saturday night.
Eeeehhhh....them were the days.
