Wiggins French is perfectly understandable to me because he speaks it with an English accent. They say that to the French ear it sounds sexy. Maybe that is why I get on so well with a young lady at the supermarket checkout.
This would be a shame, but understandable. Not too sure where he would go. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cycling/18949125
I think Cavendish needs to decide whether his main aim is green jerseys or stage wins. If it's stage wins, Sky are probably his best bet. If it's green jerseys, he never going to beat Sagan by supporting Wiggins and Froome.
I read they paid quite a bit to get him to join Sky in the first place but I guess if they have younger riders coming through who could win overall then fair enough. Its like a much cheaper version of football I guess. All the cyclists are potentially there to move on to different teams.
Anyone else think that Wiggins is nailed on for his K in the next Honours List and for BBC Sports Personality of the Year?
Unless someone does something epic at the Olympics, then yeah, think he is pretty much nailed on for SPOTY. If he gets a gold in the time trial, it's as good as his. What he's done (and the rest of Team Sky) to raise the profile of cycling has been pretty immense! I think a Knighthood should be pretty forthcoming too!
Should think both are pretty certain. People in sport seems to be knighted quite a bit now. Not sure if he'd like that title though! Doesn't seem to be the type to show off and throw himself into the limelight.
They would be deserving winners, but with Wiggins a shoe-in for Sports Personality I think the Olympic cycling team are likely to "retain" it (they won it after Beijing).
Had thought about doing a thread again, but it wasn't well used, so gave up on the idea. Wonderful scenery today as they went north up the west coast of Corsica. Driven those roads and some of the bends are very difficult on four wheels. On the basis that Sky probably have the strongest team Froome should win, but with the pile-ups that happen anything can occur.
I've driven that road too, Frenchie. Spectacular scenery. I remember the road weaving through narrow gaps in pinkish rock (an area known as Les Calanches I think). It was interesting meeting tour coaches coming in the opposite direction! We stopped for a beer to find an old man playing Corsican bagpipes...not very tuneful.
Froome is rightly favourite for the tour but it may depend on how strong team sky are this year I dont think team sky are quite as strong and that may cost him a chance of winning
Surprised that Orica Greenedge decided to park the bus on the finnishing line - thought that was more of a Stoke City tactic.
