They've got 61,000 season tickets to sell and renew each season now. Telling the fans that there will be no signings doesn't go down well with ticket renewals. It's the same story as Arsenal a decade ago. We heard the same thing from Wenger and Gazidis, that the stadium wouldn't affect our ability to spend. Levy has even come out with the classic Wenger platitude, that 'Players coming back from injuries will be like new signings' <laugh>

We developed Highbury into luxury flats, and we built some more new flats as part of the stadium complex. They didn't sell for as much as Arsenal had hoped as they were completed just as the housing market took a dip and then a couple of years later the economic crash happened. It took us pretty much a decade to pay off the stadium debt and that was £390m to build.

WHL was knocked down and the new stadium built over the top. The spuds have reportedly spent near on £1bn on their new stadium, and it's still not complete. Unless Levy is thinking of selling up to some rich Sheikh, then he's talking utter bollocks about it not having any effect of their transfer budget.

    So its about timing also..

I've seen some pics of the Highbury flats, look cool. The centre gardens etc.

Levy has took a huge gamble. Fair play if it comes off.

Yeah the Highbury flats are nice. It's odd walking through there though as the gardens are all landscaped and I have such vivid memories of different incidents that happened on that pitch and in the stands. It was definitely time for us to move to a bigger stadium back then though. As Highbury went down to a 38k capacity stadium when it went all seater.

Spurs' new stadium looks great to be fair. I like the fact that they'll have a single tier one end (although I think a lot of their fans are unhappy about ticket allocation and prices etc) They've got a cheese room, which smacks of poncey corporate ****e) but I suppose you have to bring in the big spenders. At £1bn though, that stadium is going to take a fair few years to pay off.

Levy is just coming out with excuses atm to placate the fans. To be fair, he can't really admit that Spurs can't afford to buy any top players for the next 5-10 years as there will be a riot. He's managed to find a way to double his own wages though <laugh>

It's already happening mate. You signed nobody in the summer and even Pooch came out and admitted that you won't be able to splash the cash
'The move to the new stadium is not suddenly going to change everything and millions of pounds will rain from the sky'
