The hope I see for Spurs is that Levy flips it when they're in the new stadium. He seems to like being involved in football, but unwilling to challenge the elite financially. If he sells up and somebody else comes in with more ambition, then they're technically in a better place than City were before they were swallowed up by Arab gold.

Other than that, Levy won't bring sustained success for Spurs because they will continue to sell every summer.

Well... unless it's one of those rare occasions where I'm "on the wum" and making a statement simply for the ****s and giggles.

 

Stick with me on this, and I will try to explain.

We've signed marque players... but we've not always been aware of that fact until after the event.

I will give you a couple of examples.

Bale and Alli.

There is little doubt that these were marque signings. Okay, I will admit that they were not marque at the time we signed them, but certainly ended up proving to be marque signings, in retrospect. I'm sure that you won't be so churlish as to try to split hairs with me on this.

So, that's two previous marque signings. The list is endless.

 

How can they be marquee signings if they are not marquee signings when you sign them ?
