We have Spurs to play in the second game of the season and in terms of how i think spurs will play us where their Wing backs dominated ours, i can't see trippier being better in a 1 on 1 duel from Walker. Trippier is the bees knees for breaking down opposition sitting back but i think he's a serious downgrade when its against heavyweight opposition

The only reason Spurs beat Chelsea last season was because they killed them on the flanks. Both goals came from crosses deep into the box and Chelsea just weren't set up to deal with it.

Spurs did a bit of a 'Stoke' on them
Albeit with crosses rather than long throws into the box.

Chances wise, there wasn't much in it

They killed us in 2 ways though, possession.

Our defence couldn't play it out as they pressed high and our CMs kante/matic cannot play when they are under pressure cause they aren't technically good enough, meant dembele and wanyama controlled the middle.

Rose and Walker stopped possession on our flanks as they are good 1 on 1 defenders. where they lack is sometimes they lose concentration and let their man go. Not in this instance as theres only 1 man and they don't need to hold a line.

Their deep crosses wasn't because they overloaded our flanks, it's because Alonso is a terrible 1 on 1 defender against pace, so Matic the retard (dunno if it was instructions) decided to keep helping that left flank, Cahill was in a deep defensive position also giving cover to alonso so it meant an easy simple ball to eriksen inside of matic but too deep for cahill to come out and close him. In this inside attacking midfield spot he could pick out a cross each time
