i agree with this, i was thinking this when i seen our lack of interest to spend and how much people go on about us doing good business. But i do think it be good business to sign few decent players strengthen squad and make sure we push onwards and at least keep our league position. Standing still isnt a recipe for success, you have strengthen what you got and we need strength at back at least, striker can wait till jan if need be.
Just seen one of the comments on the BBC from a Toon fan..."that's right, Mr. Ashley - just keep that squad locked up til midnight". Mr. Ashley must indeed feel pretty good about himself. Between himself, Llambias and Pardew they have managed to get the geordie masses - probably those same masses who believed Freddy Shepherd's leadership/mindless spending was a good thing - in such a spin they now believe keeping players is the Holy Grail. If we look behind Mike's ample frame, is a Campbell or a Clifford thumbing their way through a wad of SportsDirect.com vouchers? How many of us really think or thought Tiote was actually worth this mythical £25m figure? Or Cabaye? They were very good for us last season, sure, but if they were as good as the spin created by the club then they actually WOULD have been sold. Demba Ba - cracking start to the season, but to not score from Feb is kinda poor. So poor no-one thought it was a £7m gamble worth taking. Yet somehow the club believe - or would have us believe - that this first XI will stay fit and play at the same level, whilst a similar number of team capitulate around them. Sadly, Everton have actually started this campaign well, Liverpool have a manager from a recent decade and Chelsea/Spurs/City/ManU - who already obliterate us in terms of squad size, depth and quality - all bought a stack of decent players. I have this funny feeling in my stomach that things are going to take a rather sharp turn for the worst on Tyneside....
At Newcastle Airport today I saw Messi carrying Ronaldo's bags as they asked for directions to Jesmond
weve done well to keep this squad some people may say, well well well, how many bids have actually been made?none me thinks,a few years ago we were quallifying for europe year on year, then 1 year only incoming player was bowyer on a free we didnt improve the squad ,result, went backwards, didnt quallify for europe, things slowly but surely went down hill.
Yes Ashley is a smart dealer in the market, Barton left for ..... er.... nowt, Guthrie left for nowt and Simpson will be next. Great Deals
