There is a tradition in many newsgroups and other Internet discussion forums that once such a comparison is made, the thread is finished and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically lost whatever debate was in progress
Excellent thread, RCL. I have found the latest run frustrating because, against my expectations, AVB has mostly done what I thought he should have done. Things have just not worked out. Hey, maybe the people who want AVB out are right, and they're acting in the best interests of the club to try to get him sacked. But as someone who thinks he's doing a good job, what I'd really like to see is everyone pulling together to help us turn things around.

I hope you don't mind me saying that I have been following Spurs for over 50 years and if that doesn't give me permission to say "Spurs were crap today" I don't know what will! So far this season, injuries or no injuries,I have been mostly disappointed. We seem to be going backwards not forwards. Is this our worst season,so far, where we've given away so many "last minute" goals,I wonder.....not to mention peppering our goalies with pass backs!
How can this be "our worst season" since before Harry we were *regularly* below this point at this time, with *far less* potential in our squad... er, what about the season we were relegated? Doesn't that count as worse? Funny how we've been fed a diet of relative success for a few seasons and suddenly its assumed to be the norm! If judgement was made on managers after 12 games (where they've been unable to field their best teams anyway), then just about every club would be in constant turmoil. And we haven't been that bad, just compare our results with Dembele in the team against when he's not. Sometimes it's just the luck of the injury table - where would LeArs have finished last season if VanP hadn't miraculously managed a full season for the first time ever... yet such "luck" gets to be attributed to the skill of a manager (or otherwise). Let's see where we are at the end of season (particularly when the crowd doesn't turn on the team - I don't remember any booing on the home matches when we were relegated, and I don't think we were very good back then!)
What makes you think you need permission? We all have gripes about our team, and the tactics employed. Nothing on this thread suggested that no-one can have a moan.
Of course for some fans vim judgement has not been passed after 12 games it was passed before AVB started. The mindset was there already because of the loss of Harry and the perception of failure at Chelsea. Add to that the media bandwagon of pro Harry anti AVB and we begin to see how many people take their views from others rather than develop their own.
Somebody on here older than me.Bloody hell! By the way,the relegation season....we were so stunned to see what was happening to us there was no booing...in fact there was a little cheering!...and not only from the Highbury area. That gent who mentioned Harry.....your right.I enjoyed his style of play win or lose, but not these reserves playing in the Euro games.I wanted Spurs to win that! We do have experienced a lot of poor seasons in the past,I agree. But in the past we would go out and most likely score 3 and concede 4,but we would be trying to win. Today,it seems like Spurs are content scoring a goal and trying to survive with it.That's the Arsenal way and it doesn't work with us......and we concede late goals. How many points have we given away this season through late goals? In the past we would have a settled team and you knew pretty much what the team would be.Today?No.Injuries aside you don't know who is turning out.I suppose it's the sign of the times when we can't beat the Wigan's and the Arsenal's and that's pretty sad! I would like to see us get our finger out and knock 5 or 6 past the Hammers.Unfortunately I have a nasty feeling that pony tailed twit might knock a couple past us......... Poor teams?Yes.We've had a few.I can remember towards the end of 1953/4 season Preston came to White Hart Lane and I was looking forward to seeing Tom Finney for the first time.Well he didn't play.A lad named Campbell turned out instead. He ran Spurs ragged.Ramsey,Bill Nick and all.We lost 6-2...at the Lane.....among others over the many seasons.
