I will be happy with a top 6 finish. The only way I would be disapointed is if we were to go into the top 2 spots for a considerable amount of time and then fall out of them.
A hugely positive thing is our games against Leicester, Cardiff, Middlesbrough, Watford, Leeds, Blackburn and Forest (teams who were considered top 6-ers) were all AWAY! All those games out the way and we are still fourth. Lets continue to make KC a fortress!
Lots of variables yet to be played out, including the January trasnfer window, I don`t think Cardiff or Leicester will lose any of their regulars, however I can see Saha and possibly Murray getting snaffled by a mid table Premier League team which I suspect will derail Palaces bid. I would be very surpirsed if we lost any of our best players (although recalls for Meyler and Elmo are possible), and would be even more surprised if the transfer window closed without at least one addition, namely another striker. I believe the top two will come from four teams, Cardiff, Leicester, Middlesborough and ourselves. This is based on performances so far this season, at this point I do not see anyone else getting amongst these four, and I have this wobbly feeling that if we invest in the `right` striker we will, come the end of the season, be one of the two automatic teams that go up.
Crystal Palace have been the best team I have seen us play this season. They pretty much outplayed us from start to finish Top 5 I think will be (In any order) Leicester, Cardiff, Crystal Palace, Hull, Middlesbrough I think there isnt anyone else who has really stood out from the rest other then them 5. Us, Cardiff and you all have a few bob so can strengthen in January if needed to. Palace are heavily relying on keeping what they have, and Middlesbrough have an all round decent team.
Zaha, Murray and Bolasie have been quality this season. They just seem to work and they have a manager who knows how to get unfancied teams out of this league I dont think Leeds will be able to do it this season. Their squad isnt good enough
Murray didnt play against us, so maybe it was that or not fancying a cold Tuesday night in Hull but i thought they were pretty ****e against us. Injuries or transfers to those 3 and their done then. Warnock knows how to get promoted out of this division, say no more.
Palace were one of the worst teams I have seen at the KC. How they walked away with a point is anyone's guess. Zaha was hugely over rated - spent most his time on his arse or complaining like a big nonce.
Palace must be doing something right to be where they are, but there was no sign in our game, they were ****.
We've been saying for 2 and a half years now that we might suddenly start taking our chances and get the goals our performances deserve. It isn't just going to happen, it's been long enough now that I've just stopped expecting it to change on its own. We need to sign a proper centre forward to spearhead our attack and get on the end of some of these bloody crosses that keep flying in behind the defence. It pains me to say it but look at Becchio at the white ****e, they have less shots than every other team in the division on average (that's a fact btw) yet he's got 13 goals already. Every one of their goals when you see them on telly seems to involve a harmless looking aerial ball which he either heads in or heads to someone else who scores. We need someone who is that reliable in front of goal, even if he is a ****er. Murray is the same at Palace and when they played us without him they suddenly looked ****. I completely agree with Glennon that we are one of the very best teams in this division but we just aren't good enough in the area, it's a massive shame. The last two games we've won 2-1 but the goals were just one-offs (a free kick, a penalty, McShane's comical goal and Meyler's tap-in) which could easily have not happened and we'd be 4 points worse off now. We dominated these games but just didn't turn that into enough goals. All the good attacks we create come to nothing far too often. I think part of it is not having a player like those mentioned above and part of it is a mentality thing. We don't seem to believe ourselves that we are as good as we really are. We seem happy at times with not having scored. At the end of the Palace game when the fans were all desparate to see us get a winner there was no added urgency to get the winner we deserved at all, the players seemed content enough to be drawing. I don't think the likes of Cardiff, Palace and Boro are better than us but they just seem to have the confidence to take their chances and really believe that they can win this league and I just don't see that with us. Leeds have a crap squad but they do have a knack of just winning games and scoring goals out of nothing. They look like they have the mentality and confidence that we lack.
Add Becchio to the 2 x Davies (Bristol and Barnsley) and Woods. If we had deep enough pockets like West Ham we could just buy every striker and prevent anyone else buying them or scoring!
Proschwitz is just taking time to settle in, he has everything in his locker to be a great player. The replacement will be to cover Fryatts injury.
