Think its fair to say Dick and Lee have made some good signings this window
Hopefully one or two more left to come in!

Based on the team we have at the moment I'd say our strongest team would be

Think the defence is what needs sorting most of all now!

Wonder if we can get anyone in!

I'd play Toivonen higher up personally. Would probably play Borini up top too instead of Defoe (swap them round)

I hope we can get another CB and LB in

Not sure if Vlaar has signed for anyone yet but him & Alonso would be great.

I don't think Seb can do the Catts role (although neither can Catts except, seemingly, against Swansea!) and I'd like M'Vila to stay a little more advanced. Rodwell was woeful on Saturday. Probably as bad if not worse than Catts! But he too was good against Swansea! Our full backs have no protection which makes their job very difficult.

All in all I have no idea! But M'Vila, Toivonen and Lens start in every game they're fit for!! Dick has to earn his money sorting it out

Personally think looking at that team, the defence is the main issue now

    Particularly the fullbacks

I think we should be thanking DA for giving us more attacking capability than we have had for the last five seasons. Lets face it if the other lot haven't got the ball they can't do owt.

And a goal scorer. Because we sure as hall have wasted £8 - £10 million on that totally inappropriate tw*t, Borini. Apart from penalties (which Gomez could have handled every bit as well) he wouldn't know how to put the ball in the net if life depended on it. There have been some pretty daft acquisitions at SAFC - in fact, we must be famous for it - but I honestly can't remember a more criminal waste of money then this. Not a bad worker at all - don't get me wrong - but the problem was goals, and that's sure as hell what he won't solve.

I have honestly never seen a more inappropriate signing than Borini since WW2. It solves absolutely nothing.

    £12m Fletcher
    £5m Graham
    £8m Wickham
    £8m Flo

Just off the top of my head, wait until I've had a proper think.

    Disagree relic

Don't need a goalscorer...if the teams contributing then I'm happy as long as the goals are going in for us!
Borini's work ethic and passion will help with that
41 games total, 12 goals and 5 assists...from left wing...
    I'll take that anyday

Yeah, that's the sort of level I think he's at. Though I agree his work rate will be better than most of them.

So do I. But Defoe has never been better than a 1 in 3 striker. Lens, Toivenen, and M'Vila I don't know about. Johnson is erratic to say the least, Rodwell remains to be seen (at very best) Watmore isn't even considered as a first team player yet, and Alvarez, we don't even know who he plays for.

So who's our finisher please? 'Cos it sure as hell ain't Borini. That's why he isn't banging them in for Liverpool.

It's Defoe mate. Very few teams outside of the top 6 have a goalscorer with a better record than 1 in 3. I think the key is we now have several players who can chip in, which is the bestt we could ask for from this window imo.

Aye . . . . we've only scored 12 in the first five games, including one 'non goalscorer' getting a hat-trick in one of them, so we are obviously desperate for a proper goalscorer (one who would have scored a few by now - one who was averaging one goal per game so far, perhaps) :emoticon-0136-giggl

Oh, and speaking about not knowing 'how to put the ball in the net' the goal that Fab scored at Wembley, with the outside of his foot from a tight angle, the one that made tens of thousands of us deliriously happy in the stands, was just 'lucky as ****' wasn't it . . . . the useless 'inappropriate twat' . . . .
I was so disappointed when that went in :emoticon-0101-sadsm

Are you positive that you should be being so negative about him :emoticon-0112-wonde

What's ticking me off is that we have a good looking attacking outfit and have to wait so long to see it in action.

Up to now the only thing i'm gutted about in this window is that M'Vila is only on loan and as far as i know without an option to buy in place. Why?!
Also even after today has gone i'm sure the loan window is still open for the championship for a few more days. I'm thinking Bridcutt to Sheff Wed and hopefully Buckley to anywhere...
