Yeah there is no doubt to the realist that the price will go up. I think some of our lot live in fantasy land, and some quite rightly live in hope. The reality of football is slightly different. I think Ashley would be mad to gamble. As we have seen all season, everyone from 8th down has been in a precarious situation at some stage this season. Quite simply there is not much between the teams in terms of talent, money and squad depth. Unless he is suddenly going to dip into his own pocket to combine with the TV and finance 100m worth of transfers, he'd be mad to gamble. Even then it guarantees nothing as Everton found out. The top teams are creaming the top talent and spending 150m plus very year. Man C spent 475m in two seasons. I don't think your 100m-120m gets you shopping in a better market. I think it just allows you to deepen your squad with those types of players. The quality jump is not big enough. For that reason I don't think you'll see him gamble. If Staveley etc low ball him, he'll just bat them away of course, but then do we really want that type of owner?
300-320 mill. Two years free advertising. He can have it as long as in two years those Sports Direct adverts come down
If there is a deal made it could certainly involve concessions to Ashley to bridge the gap in valuations, such as the free advertising, him trousering some of the considerable money in our bank account or potentially leaving the £33m short term loan on the books and it being paid off at a later date in full or in instalments. I'm not sure any buyer would want that though so it could be no strings attached. Or there may be no deal at all. Basically, I don't know.
Don't let that stop you giving out some ITK information ........................... Chippy does it regularly!!
